Two tracts of land consisting of ten and five acres respectively on the waters of Puppy Creek

PATRICK COUNTY DEED BOOK 54, PAGES 167-168

  THIS DEED, Made this 16th day of January in the year one thousand nine hundred 
and twenty six between Charlie B. Martin and Lil E. Martin, his wife, of Patrick 
County, Virginia, parties of the first part, and Henry H. Emberson of the County 
and State aforesaid, party of the second part.
  WITNESSETH:  That in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Dollars, cash in 
hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said parties of the 
first part do grant unto the said party of the second part with general 
warranty, all of two certain tracts of parcels of land, lying adjoining each 
other in Patrick County, Virginia on the waters of Puppy Creek.
  First: a tract containing 10 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows:  
Beginning at a set stone on the east side of William A. Via's spring branch near 
the corner of Charlie B. Martin's land; thence an easterly course, crossing a 
little ridge to a cedar near a small branch; thence crossing the branch to a 
walnut stump; thence straight line nearly same course to a black gum near a gate 
on east side of Embersons mill road; thence with said road a northerly course to 
H.H. Emberson's line; thence with said Emberson's line a westerly course to a 
corner hickory on the bank of Puppy Creek, thence up said creek as it meanders 
to the mouth of said WIlliam A. Via's spring branch, thence up said branch as it 
meanders to the beginning.   Said land being the same tract conveyed to the said 
Charlie B. Martin from William A. Via, and wife by deed dated on the 10th day of 
April 1920, and recorded in the Clerk's Office of Patrick County, in deed book 
No. 46 page 349 to which special reference is here made for a more complete 
description of the said land.
  Second: A tract containing 5 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows:  
Beginning at a black gum in C.B. Martin's line on the west side of Emberson's 
mill road; thence an easterly course rossing said road about 20 poles to a set 
stone, thence a northerly course about 19 poles to a corner white oak in H.H. 
Emberson's line; thence with said Emberson's line a westerly course to the said 
mill road; thence with the said road as it meanders to the beginning.   Said 
land being the same tract conveyed to the said Charlie B. Martin from William A. 
Via and wife by deed dated the 19th day of February 1921.
  THE said parties of the first part covenant that they have the right to convey 
the said lane to the grantee; that they have done no act to encumber the said 
land; that the grantee shall have quiet possession of the said lane, free from 
all encumbrances, and that they the said parties of the first part will execute 
such further assurance of the said land as may be requisite.
  WITNESS the following signature and seals:

STATE OF VIRGINIA, County of Patrick, to-wit:

  I. Thos E. Bryant, a notary public for the county aforesaid, in the State of 
Virginia, do certify that Charlie B. Martin and Lila E. Martin his wife, whose 
names are signed to the foregoing writing, bearing date on the 16th day of 
January, 1926, have acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid.
   Given under my hand this 16th day of January 1926.

VIRGINIA--Patrick County, to-wit:

  In the Office of Clerk Circuit Court, the 23 day of Jan. 1926, this deed was 
presented and with the certificate annexed, admitted to record at 3:30 o'clock 
P.M.
