     THIS DEED, Made this 14th day of October, 1922, between Susan C. Emberson, 
John W. Emberson, Nancy E. Emberson, Martha J. Emberson, Sarah A. Emberson, 
Pleasant W. Emberson and Delia Emberson, his wife, John R. Setliff and Mary A. 
Setliff, his wife, all of Patrick County, Virginia, James M. Bryant and Lucinda 
E. Bryant, his wife, James W. Emberson and Ada Emberson, his wife, Charlie 
Emberson, and Era Emberson, all of Franklin County, Virginia, David W. Emberson 
and Malinda Emberson, his wife, of Draper, North Carolina, James I. Emberson and 
Mollie Emberson, his wife, of Roanoke, Virginia, all heirs at law of the late 
Wade A. Emberson, dec'd., parties of the first part, and Henry H. Emberson of 
Patrick County, Virginia, party of the second part.
     WITNESSETH:  That for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred 
Dollars ($100.00), cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged, the said first parties do grant unto the said second party, with 
covenants of general warranty, all their interest in a certain tract or parcel 
of land, lying and being on the waters of Smith River, in Patrick County, 
Virginia, containing 40 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows:
     Beginning at a post oak on a ridge near the road in H.G. McAlexander's 
line; thence S. 30 E. 40-1/2 poles to a stone (formerly a white oak), thence N. 
23 E. 28 poles to a stone at a fallen white oak; thence N. 56 E. 56 poles to 
large poplar in a hollow; thence down hollow, crossing a branch, S. 63 E. 60 
poles and 10 links to a locust near Smith River above the mouth of Puppy Creek; 
thence due east one pole to bank of river; thence up the same as it meanders, N. 
21 deg. 30 min. W. 11 poles and 17 links, N. 23 W. 7 poles and 20 links, N. 9 E. 
13 poles and 18 links, N. 25 E. 22 poles to a sycamore on bank of river at mouth 
of branch; thence up said branch as it meanders, a new line, N. 77 deg. 30 min. 
W. 7 poles and 5 links, N. 79 W. 8 poles and 19 links N. 55 W. 6 poles and 20 
links, N. 86 deg. 30 min. W. 44 poles and 20 links to a locust thence N. 54 W. 
16 poles and 20 links to a bunch of poplars, thence leaving the branch and up a 
hill, N. 88 deg. 30 min. W. 14 poles to a poplar on the road; thence with the 
road as it meanders S. 8 W. 33 poles and 5 links to fork of road on top of hill; 
thence S. 21 deg. 15 min. W. 12 poles, S. 28 deg. 30 min. W. 14 poles, S. 45 W. 
10 poles, S. 80 W. 13 poles and 10 links to the beginning, Said tract being part 
of the lands owned by the said Wade A. Emberson, dec'd.
     The aforesaid grantors covenant that they have the right to convey the said 
land to the aforesaid grantee; and that the said grantee shall have quiet 
possession of the said land, free from all encumbrances; that they have done no 
act to encumber the said land, and that they will execute such further assurance 
of the said land as may be requisite.

State of Virginia, do certify that Susan C. Emberson, John W. Emberson, Nancy E. 
Emberson, Martha J. Emberson, Sarah A. Emberson, Pleasant W. Emberson and Delia 
Emberson, his wife, John R. Setiff and Mary A. Setliff, his wife, James M. 
Bryant and Lucinda E. Bryant, his wife, James W. Emberson, Charlie Emberson and 
Era Emberson whose names are signed to the foregoing writing, bearing date the 
14th day of October, 1922, have acknowledged the same before me in my County 
aforesaid.
