Martinsville Morning Post, March 6, 1937
MARTINSVILLE MORNING POST, Martinsville, Va., Sat., March 6, 1937, p. 2, col. 1 
[edited].  A body identified by Franklin county officers as that of Robert Turner, 
35, of Patrick county, was found Thursday afternoon in the Smith River section of 
Franklin County.  It was found at the edge of the woods by persons living in the 
neighborhood in southwest Franklin county.  Turner had been dead four or five 
days.  Franklin county authorities have been conducting an investigation.

Additional Comments:
Thomas Robert Turner was the son of John Peter Turner and Lucinda Alice Shelton. 
Based on the newspaper accounts, he was found dead on Thursday, March 4.   The 
coroner ruled the date of death as March 2.   The death certificate indicated 
that is was ruled as a probably homicide and a coroner's inquest was done.  He 
was buried in the Shelton and Turner Cemetery in Dodson.
