The Henry Bulletin, July 22, 1927
THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Fri., July 22, 1927, p. 5, col. 2.
DODSON. Capt. D. Lee Ross, one of our oldest and best known citizens, died
after a long illness. He was 96 years old and is survived by four sons and four
daughters who were present at the funeral except one daughter. His wife and two
daughters had preceded him to the grave. Funeral services were conducted by
Rev. J. B. Pettus, and he was tenderly laid to rest Sunday near his late home.
Despite the storm and mud which kept a good many away, there was a ver large
crowd in attendance to pay a last respect to one honored and loved by all who
knew him. Among the ones from a distance in attendance included T. L. Clark,
John S. Taylor and Mr. Tatum from Stuart, Mr. and Mrs. Draper and children from
Sydnorsville and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ross and children from Bassett, and a good
many from Buffalo Ridge.

Additional Comments:
He is buried at Ross Harbour United Methodist Church Cemetery which is located on
Elamsville Road about 1/4 mile from the junction with Fairystone Park Highway.
