The Enterprise March 16, 1933
                      ANOTHER CONFEDERATE SOLDIER GONE

Mr. Wm. G. Martin, in his 92nd year, departed this life at the house of his
son Charley Martin, near Dodson Saturday, March 11th at 11 o'clock P.M. and was
buried Sunday afternoon at the Cox Cemetery in the community in which he had
spent most of his life. He was a son of Wm. Moses Martin, who lived in the same
community.
Mr. Martin was married three times, and by his first wife he raised five sons,
all of whom survive to mourn their loss. He served as a Confederate soldier
practically all through the war between the states and drew a pension for
several years. He united with the Primitive Baptist Church several years ago
and was a consistent member of that church of Stuart at the time of his death.
Some years ago he had a nice casket made at Woolwine, and had it shipped to
Roanoke, where he was living at that time and he bought his funeral clothes and
put them in it. When he moved back to Patrick he had them shipped back, where
they waited for him at his son's home when the end came.
He was the last member of the Wm. Moses Martin family but he leaves his five
sons, Weefe, Peter, Dick, Alex, and Charley Martin and a host of relatives and
friends to mourn his departure.

Written by his pastor, S.A. Thompson
