THE DAILY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Sat., Dec. 28, 1935, p. 2, col. 1 [edited]. 
Funeral services for Sparrell Martin, 89, well known citizen of the Endicott 
(Franklin Co.) section, who passed away Wednesday following lingering illness, 
were held from the late home Thursday afternoon. Burial followed in the family 
cemetery nearby. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. George Bryant of 
Martinsville; Abner and T. H. Martin of Dodson; John Martin, Miss Alice Martin and 
Mrs. Thomas Sigmon, all of the Buffalo Ridge section.

Additional Comments:
The Elder James Goode Lane Hash in his book "Calendar Record of Events 1909-1959 
of James Goode Lane Hash" states that he attended his funeral at the homeplace 
which was near the White Falls which is located on the Smith River in Patrick 
County, Virginia.   He is also buried with his wife nearby.   According to Mr. 
Hash's book, he stated that it was very cold as it was only eight degrees three 
days prior to the funeral.
