The Henry Bulletin, December 29, 1933
THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Fri., Dec. 29, 1933, p.1, col. 7
[edited]. `Mrs. M. Alice Hooker, 71, wife of the late W.C. Hooker of Patrick
county, passed away Sunday morning in the Stuart hospital, following a long
illness. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Funeral services were
held from her late home at Elamsville Sunday afternoon. Burial followed in the
family cemetery nearby. Mrs. Hooker's husband, the late W.C. Hooker, preceded
her to the grave about three years ago. Surviving are two children, Mrs. H. G.
Brown, this city and Mrs. S. Tyler Rakes of Endicott. A brother, Jeff D. Ross
of Dodson also remains. Mrs. Hooker was a lifelong resident of Patrick county,
being reared a short distance from where she resided. She was consistent member
of the Brethren church. She will not only be missed by her friends and
relatives, but by travelers who went out of the way to stop at her hospitable
home.

Additional Comments:
She is buried in the William C. Hooker Cemetery which is located at the junction
of 618 and 705 in the woods on private property.
