Richard Benson Obituary
Dr. Richard Latimer Benson, Sr., age 84, of Athens GA passed away on Tuesday, 
March 02, 2010, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas GA, Dr. Benson, 
native of Marietta Georgia was born July 30, 1925.; he is the son of the late 
Hugh Lee & Etta Mae Elliott Benson & he is the widower of the late Amy Laverne 
Murphy Benson. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army Air Corps. He practiced 
medicine in Broxton GA & Coffee Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will 
be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 06, 2010 at the Broxton Baptist Church in 
Broxton GA with Burial following in the Evergreen Memorial Park near Athens GA. 
The family will receive friends at Sims Funeral Home on Friday; calling hours 
are 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the GA 
Park Service. Survivors include: Son, Richard Latimer Benson, Jr., Plant City FL 
& Daughter, T. Cat Ford, New York NY, Sister, Marjorie Herndon, Athens GA. Sims 
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
