The Telegraph published in Goldsboro, NC dated 13 July 1854 carried a notice of the
settlement of the Estate of Martha Aldridge Sugg (M.A.S)--located in The Duke
Collection--the only issue of this weekly paper saved for the year 1854. Copy is on
microfilm at the Heritage Room at Lenoir Community College, Kinston, NC. Living
children and the children of deceased children are listed. Among the grandchildren are
Mary Barrington Sugg, daughter of Josiah Sugg and his wife: Elizabeth Aldridge, who
married Richard Dixon. 1854-1770 = 84years at death--Martha Aldridge Sugg. Josiah
Sugg and Eliza Aldridge are deceased P.A.D's Grandparents

Note" My Grandmother Peninah Adeline Dixon (P.A.D.) 1848-1937 thought she
remembered this Grandmother. M.A.S. Grannie would have been 6 years old at this date.
She didn't remember her Grandmother: Elizabeth Aldridge Sugg 1794-1838 at all as she
had died before she was born. Perhaps she really did remember the death of her Great-
grandmother. Martha Aldridge Sugg' children of 6 yrs usually remember the unusual. My
grandmother was the daughter of Mary Barrington Sugg and Richard Dixon. ( have
pictures of Grannie's parents. M.A. S. 1770-1854 Great Grandmother)" Ima Mewborn
