    Adam Bryson is of Irish descent.  His great grandfather 
Andrew Bryson was a native of Ireland, came to America and 
settled in Fayette county, Penna.  His grandfather, David 
Bryson, was also a native of Ireland, came with his father 
in 1700, and settled in Fayette county.  He married Nancy 
Wilson, a daughter of Alexander Wilson of Fayette county.  
They had the following children: Elizabeth Bryson and Andrew 
Bryson.  
    William Laughery, who was born in Fayette county, was 
the maternal grandfather.  He married Susan Kemp of the 
county and to them was born Charlotte Laughery, the mother 
of the subject of this sketch.
    Andrew Bryson (father) was born August 4, 1819, and came 
to Union Furnace at Dunbar when the yield of iron was but 
three tons per twenty four hours.  Now the yield is 125 tons 
in the same time.  They had the following children: Surue 
Bryson, Nancy Bryson, Mary Bryson, William Bryson, Rebecca 
Bryson, John Bryson, Adam Bryson, Emma Bryson, Bella Bryson.  
    Adam Bryson was born February 15, 1860, in Dunbar 
township, Fayette county, Penna, and was educated in the 
common schools of the township.  He has followed laboring 
during all of his life, working chiefly for the Dunbar 
Furnace Company.  He is a member of the Good Templar, Odd 
Fellows, Jr O U A Mechanics, Orangemen, Knights of the Camp 
of Israel.  He was the first Arch Purple Marks man in 
Balyer, Sons of Liberty.  S O L No.  36 at Dunbar.  Presided 
as W M for the first two years, has represented King David 
Lodge, I O O F, No 826, and was twice in the Grand Lodge of 
Pennsylvania.  His father was a charter member of King 
Solomon Lodge of Masons at Connellsville, and King David 
Lodge of Odd Fellows at Dunbar.
