Opa Mae
Harrell Hattaway
Mrs. Ora Mae,Harrell Hattaway of Wray, died Saturday, October 17, 1998
at her home in Wray,following an extended illness. She was 81.
Mrs. Hattaway, a native of Atkinson County, was born February 7, 1917,
the daughter of.the late Frank and Lillian Hester Harrell. She was a
homemaker and the
widow of Glen Ronnie Hattaway. She was a member at Lax Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Susie H. Bateler of Jacksonville,
FL; Edith P. Hattaway of Valdosta and Glynis H. Nall of Fitzgerald;
seven sons, Thomas
Franklin Hattaway of Alapaha;Lem W Hattaway of Villa Rica; Tillman,
Dudley B. and Donald W Hattaway of Augusta and Freddie J. Hattaway of
Rhine; one brother,
John A. Harrell of West Green; 12 grandchildren, nine
great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 19 at 4 p.m. at the Chapel
of Sims Funeral Home in Douglas with Rev. George Carroll Paulk,
Rev.Alton Carver and
Rev. Herbert Box officiating.
Special music was provided by soloist, Shirley Dill, as she sang
"Amazing Grace," the congregation sang with Ruth Vickers accompanying at
the keyboard.
Pallbearers were Richard Vickers, Sherley Vickers, Kirby
Holton,JoeyCopeland, Kenny Pridgen and
Mark Dill.
Interment was at the Harmony Grove Church Cemetery in
Atkinson county.
Sims Funeral Home of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
