 Mr. Edd Rufus Patton, age 87, of Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday, May 11, 
2008 at Shady Acres Convalescent Center in Douglas, GA. 
 Mr. Patton, a native of Coffee County, GA was born June 30, 1920, he is the 
son of the late Benjamin Levi and Cora Carver Patton. He was owner/operator of 
a local Antique Shop for a number of years and a member of the First Baptist 
Church; he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #386, the VFW and the American 
Legion. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army.
 Sisters, Limmie Merritt, Annie Castleberry and Dorothy Holland preceded him in 
death.
 Survivors include wife of 71 years, Alene Vickers Patton; sons, Carlton (Gail) 
Patton, Know, TN, Wendell Patton, Fitzgerald, GA; daughter, Wanda Faye Patton 
Moncrief, Jacksonville, FL; sister, Sue Brown, Pearson, GA; brother, Jimmy 
Fussell, Pearson, GA; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Chapel of Sims 
Funeral Home with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Taped selections of "Peace In 
The Valley," "Go Rest High On That Mountain," "Wind Beneath My 
Wings," "Precious Memories" and "When I Get Where I'm Going," Lois Mills, 
pianist provided soft music for the prelude and postlude. Burial followed in 
the Douglas City Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers were Anthony Patton, Beau Dix, Buddy Carver, Jacob Reffitt, 
Danny Patton and Patrick Brown.
 Honorary pallbearers Anthony and Margaret Deal, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carver, Billy 
& Dale Davis, WW McCrary, Ronnie Merritt, Luke Morgan, John Myers, Dr. Henry 
Patton, Ben Vickers, Earl Watkins, Gene Wade, Vickers Smith, Ira Harper, Thomas 
Myers, Rowan Evans, Dr. Marshall Tanner.
 Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
