Rube Hobby, Formerly of Tifton, Dies in Macon; Funeral Sunday
Rube Hobby, 78, of Macon, formerly of Tifton, died at 10am Friday in Macon.
Funeral services will be at 3pm Sunday at Liberty Baptist Chrurch with the
Rev. L. B. Allen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hobby, a retired farmer, was born Feb. 4, 1893, in Coffee County to Jesse
Hobby and Malinda Hobby. He moved to Macon from Tifton 14 years ago.
He was married to the former Vollie McDaniel, who died in 1962 ( actually
1964).
Surviving are three sons, Clifford E. Hobby and Jessie J. Hobby, both of
Macon and Roscoe Hobby of Tifton; five daughters, Mrs. Ouida Newbern, Mrs.
Beatrice Whiddon and Mrs. Juanita Walston, all of Macon, Mrs. Ella Mae Horton
of Tifton, and Mrs. Wille Mae Hurst of Titusville, Fla.; one brother, George
Hobby of Lakeland; and three sisters, Mrs. Nan Turner of Macon, Mrs. Polly
Jordan of Fitzgerald and Mrs. Jane Brown of Poulan.
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
