Mary Virginia Wells Burnette
November 1, 1928 ~ September 14, 2016
Mrs. Mary Virginia Wells Icard Burnette, 87, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on
Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at
Tazewell Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Truitt and Rev. Andy Taunton officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Tazewell Cemetery. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 6:00-8:00pm.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Burnette, Curtis Smith, Matt Icard, Michael Turner,
John Woodall, Jason Icard, Cory Shaddinger and Wayne Shaddinger.
Mrs. Burnette was born in Marion County, GA, on November 1, 1928, to David Boney
and Mary Virginia Calhoun Wells. She was Baptist by faith and a member of
Tazewell Baptist Church. She was employed as a machine operator at Spilene and
International Playtex for 35 years. Mrs. Burnette loved her family and enjoyed
gospel singing and travel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her first husband, L. J. Icard, by three daughters, Cathy Woodall,
Sandra Turner, and Virginia Ellen Pennington, by a grandson, Johnathan Taunton,
and a granddaughter, Lynda Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Burnette of Buena Vista, GA; by two sons,
James Robert Icard of Buena Vista, GA, Ken and Mary Jo Icard of Mauk, GA; by two
daughters, Eileen and Ronnie Kidd of Ellaville, GA, Mary Lou Smith of Buena
Vista, GA; by a step-son Wayne and Connie Burnette of Buena Vista, GA; by five
step-daughters, Marie Temple of Texas, Maxine Kelly of Donalsonville, Kelly
Clayton of Macon, GA, Kim Burnette of Delaware, and Sheila Sorrell of Warner
Robins, GA; a sister-in-law, Audrey Mae and Jim Stone of Mississippi; 26
grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren also
survive.
