In the name of God Amen I, James Byrd of the County of Orange and
State of North Carolina, being in perfect health and of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for
his Kind providential care over me, - And after recommending my soul to his Divine protection do
this Twenty fourth day of October in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and Ninty three
Make publish and declare this my last will and Testament in the Manner and form following
Revoking all others heretofore made by me - - - -
1st Item
            I give and bequeth to my Youngest son Thomas Bird all my Land I now
possess after my decease - - -

I further give and beque[a]th that is to say all and every of the residue of my estate
to wit Horses Calle[Cattle] sheep Hogs all kinds of stock Houshold furniture Working and
plantation utinsails to be Equaly divided amongst the Whole of my Children
Saying Richard Empson Thomas Sarah Mary Susanah and Cathrine Each to have
Share and share alike in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal
this day and date first above forst[first] appointing my two sons Richard and
Empson Bird to see this my last will Executed - - -

The execution of the above last Will and Testament of James
Bird Decd was duly proved in Open Court by the Oath of Jas.
Mebane one of the Subscribing Witnesses thereto & ordered to be
Recorded ~~ at the same time the Executors therein named
qualfied accordingly ~~~~
