Before me, W B Snodgrass Register for the probate of Wills in and for said
county, personally came Henry Kettering and Henry S Cashey who being duly
qualified say that they will well and without prejudice or partiality value
and appraise the property of E W Ament late of Hempfield Twp deceased which
Alice L Ament, the widow of deceased, shall elect to retain under the
provisions of the Act of Assembly of the 14th of April 1851 and in all
respects perform their duties as appraisers to the best of their skill and
judgement.

To receive when the real estate is sold the sum of $184.50
The Widow having elected to retain the balance of the $300 to wit the sum of
one hundred eighty four dollars and fifty cents out of the following
described Real Estate located in G F Huff's other plan of lots in East
Greensburg, Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA. known as lot #36 being 50 ft
in front on Second St running along said street 50 ft East to lot #37 along
said lot #37 130 ft south to an alley, along said alley 50 ft west to lot #35
along said lot #35 130 ft north to Second Street. We, the undersigned
appraisors, having viewed the premises do certify that Real Estate to that
amount cannot be set apart to the Widow without prejudice or spoiling the
whole and do find that the widow is entitled to receive when the Real Estate
is sold $184.50.

To the Honorable te judge of the Orphans Court of Westmoreland County
The petition of W C Walthour & J B Ament late of the township of Hempfield
said county deceased respectfully represents that said E W Ament died
intestate, seized in his demesne of the following real estate to wit: all
that certain lot of ground containing in front 50 ft on Second Street
running along said street 50 ft East to lot #37 along said lot #37 130 ft
south to an alley, along said alley 50 ft west to lot #35 along said lot #35
130 ft north to Second Street the place of beginning, the same being lot #36
of the plan of building lots laid out by George F Huff and others in
Hempfield Twp said County an known as East Greensburg. That the personal
estate of the said decedent is insufficient to pay his debts and that it is
requisite to sell said lot of ground for the payment of said debts.
That the personal estate of the said decedent amounted to the sum of one
hundred fifteen dollars and fifty cents which the widow elected to retain as
part of her $300 allowed under the Act of 14 April 1851 and that the
foregoing lot of ground is a full and correct statement of all the real
estate of the said decedent and that your petitioners have annexed as a just
and true account of all the debts of the decedent which have come to
knowledge. They therefore respectfully pray an order of said court to
authorize a sale by them of the real estate described in this petition. W C

To which is to be added the cost of Administration and settlement W C Walthour

W C Walthour and J B Ament the above named petitioners being duly sworn
according to law do depose and say that the facts set forth in the foregoing
petition which have come to the knowledge of said petitioners which are
thereunto annexed and are just and true to the best of their knowledge and
belief.

And now March 11 1879 Bond and Surety approved and the court order and direct
the Administrators to expose the Real Estate described within to public
outcry on the premises on Saturday the 5th day of April 1879 (note:
presumably this means auction)
Terms one half of confirmation of sale and the residue in six months
thereafter with interest from date of confirmation of sale to be secured by
judgement bound. March 11 1879 bond of W C Walthour & J B Ament with J C
Biggert and Uriah G Kemp as sureties in the sum of $4000 presented in Open
Court approved and filed. Exit Order of Sale.
And now April 7 1879 on motion of Messrs Marchand at the instance of
petitioners time of sale changed to Saturday 10 May 1879 instead of Saturday
5 April 1879. Petition of W C Walthour one of the Adms. for leave to bid
filed. And now May 10 1879 the court upon due consideration allows
petitioner to be a bidder at the sale of the Real Estate of said Ament and
the sale be conducted by his co administrator.
And now to wit May 17 1879 confirmed. And now May 24 1879 no exceptions
being filed sale confirmed absolutely and the Administrator directed to
execute and deliver a deed tot he purchaser his heirs and assigns on
compliance with the terms of sale.
