Mrs. A. E. LOOMIS died December 20th 1906 at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
George ARTHUR at Big Flats, agd 54 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Sylvia L. BALCOME was born at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, April 16th, 1852; and
was united in marriage with A. E. LOOMIS at Monroe, Green County, on Feb
2nd, 1851. In 1877 they moved to Cottonwood County, Minnesota, where they
lived the greater portion of their married life. After leaving that place
they resided at Walnut Grove for five years, and Mrs. LOOMIS will be
remembered by a large number of the older residents at that place. She was
also a member of the Methodist church, having joined while living at Walnut
Grove.

To Mr. and Mrs. LOOMIS six children were born, four daughters, Mrs. George
ARTHUR and Mrs. V. L. VanCISE of Big Flats, Mrs. J. G. HAGERMAN of Clarence
Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. W. PATTERSON of Stanwood, Iowa. All of the children
were with their mother during her last hours except Mrs. HAGERMAN.

Mrs. LOOMIS has been a great sufferer of valvular heart disease. She
visited last winter with her children in Iowa, returning to Big Flats in
May. She has been unable to attend to household duties for the past two
years although able to be up and around.

The funeral was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George ARTHUR, and
she was laid to rest in the Big Flats cemetery
