Died--HOSKINS--At the residence of her son, at the old homestead, in the
town of Lincoln, this county, Mrs. Sophie HOSKINS, on the 5th day of June,
1895.

She was born in the state of New York, in the town of Minden, near Albany,
June 2nd, 1820. She was married to Mr. Cyrus P. HOSKINS in 1842, and passed
away after fifty-three years of companionship, forty-three years of which
were spent in this county, having their first home here in what is now
called Fordham, they being the first to settle in this place.

Mrs. HOSKINS was the mother of seven children, three of whom passed on
before. Of the four remaining sons, two reside in this county--Millard F.
HOSKINS, of New Chester, and Homer A. HOSKINS, of Lincoln. The other two
live in the far west, moving from point to point as business demands.

I desire to voice the general feeling of sympathy for her aged husband, who
remains behind, and for the bereaved children. She, who was a faithful wife
and an affectionate mother, who filled the measure of human existence with
fidelity, died trusting in the unbounded love of our Father above, bidding
a last farewell to all saying "I am going to Jesus."
