Martin Joseph Hobart was born in Groton, NY on Dec 25, 1832, where he resided 
with his parents Harry and Augusta Hobart, until he was 6 years, when the 
family moved to Cortland, NY.  There in the spring of 1856, he was united in 
marraige to MIss Cordelia S. Hays.  Of this union four children were born and 
all living except one which died in infancy:  Mrs Augusta H. Cooper of 
Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Hattie H. White of Cortland, NY and John H. Hobart of 
Monroe.

Mr Hobart with his family moved to the town of Monroe, Adams Co, Wis in the 
spring of 1871, where he resided until 1874 when his wife died and he soon 
after returned to New York state with his family, and from there Troy, PA 
wehere he resided until 1878 when he returned to Wisconsin and since that time 
the town of Monroe has been his permanent home.

Mr Hobart was a kind neighbor and a good citizen and was highly esteemed by all 
who knew him.  He had been in failing health for the past 6 months.  He died at 
5 o'clock on the morning of May 21, 1907.

Funeral was held Tuesday morning from the Monroe Center Church, conducted by 
Rev S.S. Forrest of Friendship.  Internment made in the Monroe Center 
Cemetary.  The attendance at the funeral was large.----- Necedah Republicon
