DEATH OF ROLLA COTTON Died in this city on Saturday morning, July the
eleventh, of typhoid fever, after a brief illness, George R. COTTON, of the
firm COTTON & ROLLMAN. He was born in Wisconsin and removed to Missouri
seven years ago and at the time of his death was thirty-one years of age.
The firm of COTTON & ROLLMAN came to Afton about five months ago and
engaged in the hardware business; the new firm was well-liked and was
building up a nice trade. Mr. COTTON was a very pleasant gentleman and had
made many friends who will regret his untimely death which cast a shadow of
grief over the entire community. At the time of his death he was engaged to
be married to a young lady of Lockwood, Missouri. The remains of the
deceased were conveyed to Lockwood for interment. --Afton [Ind. Ter] Weekly
Pioneer

Rolla COTTON was born at Roche-a-Cris in this county, and was educated at
the high school in this village, during a part of which time he was a
member of the editor's household. Later he was employed as clerk in N. M.
JONES' hardware store. He has many friends in Adams county who sincerely
regret his death before his day had reaced its noon and while life held for
him yet so many possibilities. He is survived by three sisters and one
brother, L. H. COTTON of Coloma. He was a nephew of Mr. O. GARDNER of
Roche-a-Cris.
