Mary Emma KOELMEL was born at Troy, New York, January 27, 1868. When a baby
she came with her parents to Wabasha Minnesota, where she grew to
womanhood. She was baptized and confirmed in the German Lutheran church at
Wabasha and was a faithful member.

In 1885 she came to Big Flats, Wisconsin, and on February 6, 1886, she was
united in marriage with Chris A. CHRISTENSEN. Five years ago they moved to
Hancock and here she passed away to the heavenly home on July 4, 1919,
after a long illness with dropsy and a complication of other diseases with
which she was a patient sufferer.

Near relatives left to mourn her loss are the husband, five children, six
grand-children, four sisters and one brother besides many other relatives
and good friends. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, ever true and
faithful, always thoughtful of others even when her own affliction was
hardest to bear. She often spoke of the Savior and her desire to be at rest
with Jesus. Her last words were, "In the sweet bye and bye".

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday forenoon, her immediate
family all being present, and also her brother and wife and sister, Mrs.
PETERSON. The presence of so many friends from her old home community in
Big Flats, as well as those from nearer by was a silent testimony of their
high regard for the deceased and her loved ones.

Rev. Cook spoke tender words of hope and assurance and the remains were
laid at rest in a flower-lined grave in Hancock cemetery. ---Hancock News
