Adams County Native Son Dies in War
FRIENDSHIP--Sp/4 Richard K. Carter, 22, was killed in Vietnam Nov.
19 when a jeep he was driving hit a landmine, according to word
received by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Fenner, who
reside on Highway 13, north of here.
Carter was due to leave Vietnam in 20 days.
He was born in Friendship Oct. 14, 1945, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wilford Cater, and was a graduate of Milwaukee's Juneau High School.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Anderson, Milwaukee; two brothers, Roger Carter and August Anderson,
and two sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Mrs. Virginia Calabrese, all
of Milwaukee.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Oxford
Community Church in Adams County, the Rev. F.W. Jung officiating.
Burial will follow in the New Chester Cemetery.
There will be closed casket visitation at Roseberry Funeral Home
Sunday evening.
