Mrs. Sarah Burgdorff Is Laid to Rest in the New Chester Cemetery

Mrs. Sarah M. Burgdorff of the town of New Chester, passed away
Thursday, August 24, at the Adams county home, aged 77 years, 1
month, and 21 days. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 27, at
the New Chester Congregational church with burial in the New Chester
Cemetery. The Rev. H.A. Bernhardt of Westfield, was in charge of the
services.

Sarah M. Fonda was born in the town of New Chester, Adams county
Wisconsin July 3, 1856. She was united in marriage to Theodore
Burgdorff August 16, 1873. They settled in the town of New Chester
on a farm. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Chloe
Estelle, who died in infancy; Lena Emilie Fenner, who died in the
year 1907, and Mrs. Bertha Fenner of Chetek, Wisconsin. The husband
and father passed on September 17, 1929.

In life Mrs. Burgdorff had more than her full share of suffering and
sorrow. She not only tenderly mothered her own children, but also
some of her grandchildren, and in addition took upon herself many of
the burdens of her neighbors and friends. She was always ready to
help those in need. A few years ago she had the misfortune to break
her hip. This affliction and the intense suffering which accompanied
her last illness she bore patiently and with fortitude.

In addition to the one daughter she is survived by ten grand-
children and 17 great grand children.
