DIED--BACON--Died at her home in Cumberland, Wisconsin, Oct 6, 1899,
Charlotte, wife of Mr. George B. BACON, aged 60 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Mrs. BACON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Silas POOLER, was born at Mentor,
Ohio, August 28th, 1839. Some time in the forties the family moved from
Ohio to Wisconsin and first settled at Fulton in Rock County. From there
they came to Adams County in 1850, and settled at Cascade, now called White
Creek. It was there, in the fall of 1854, when she had just entered her
fifteenth year, that the writer hereof came to know her as a pupil in the
village school. There her quiet, studious, lady-like deportment gave
promise of the noble and endearing qualities of mind and heart that so
endeared her in after life to her family and friends, and to all who came
within the circle of her associations and influence.

On January 18, 1856, she was married to George B. BACON, at White Creek,
and there they made their home for 34 years, or until 1890, when she and
her husband moved to Algoma, Iowa, where they resided until the spring of
1893. The summer of 1893, she spent with relatives in Cumberland, and in
visiting the World's Fair in Chicago, and then went to Des Moines, Iowa,
where her husband and self lived until September, 1894, when they located
and built a home in Cumberland, Wisconsin, near their children, Mr. and
Mrs. F. F. MORGAN.

Mr. and Mrs. BACON spent the winter of 1897-98 in Florida, hoping that a
change in climate might benefit her health; but their hopes met with
disappointment, for she steadily grew worse until death closed her earthly
career at 9 o'clock in the morning of Oct 6, when she passed away at her
home in Cumberland.

Mrs. BACON was the mother of four children--one son and three daughters.
The husband and two daughters--Mrs. P. S. ENGELHARDT of Milwaukee, and Mrs.
F. F. MORGAN, wife of the publisher of the Advocate at Cumberland,
Wisconsin, survive her. Her son, Warren, died at the age of 11 years at
White Creek. Her eldest daughter married E. C. HIGBEE, now a prominent
lawyer at La Crosse, and died in that city in 1886, aged 29 years.

Appropriate funeral services were held in Cumberland, and the many
beautiful and touching tributes to her memory showed how deeply she had
endeared herself to all who knew her.

The remains were brought to White Creek for burial, and were laid in their
final resting place with the simple cermonies that best tell the story of
deep and tender affection. Brief as was the notice, the church was full to
capacity. Rev. Frank BACON, brother of the bereaved husband, at the request
of Mrs. BACON before she died, preached the funeral sermon...
