WILL of Nathaniel Dunham/Donham of Clermont co. OH,
formerly of Ruff's Creek, Greene Co. PA...
Clermont Co., OH...In the Name of God Amen, I Nathaniel
Donham of the State of Ohio and County Clermont Ohio
Township being in Perfect mind for wich <sic> I have reason
to bless God for knowing that it is once appointed for all
once to die I do make and ordain this to be my last will and
testament that is to say Prinsably first of all I give and
recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the
Earth to be Buried in a Decent manner and as touching my
worldly estate that it has pleased God to bless me with in
this world with, I give and dispose of in the following
manner viz first of all give and bequeath to my wife KEZIA
one bed and furniture two cows one horse and her choice of
saddle and bridle and I give to my children to my sons
DAVID, LEWIS, HENRY, ABLE, AMOS, ROBERT and JONATHAN one
dollar each and to have no more of my estate. I give to my
daughter MARY one bed and I give my Land to my son William
with a reserve to my wife as long as she lives and as for
the rest of my estate I give one half to my wife and the
other half to my son William to be divided as they see cause
and I do appoint my wife and my son William to be my
executors and I do utterly disolve, revoke and disannull all
and every other testament, will and legacies ,executors by
me willed or maid or decreed rattafing<sic> and confirming
this and no other, to be my last will and testament. In
witness whereof have hereunto set my name and seal this
twenty ninth day of September, one thousand eight hundred
and twelve....Nathaniel Donham....Witnesses present...Jesse
Swein, James Arthur, Joseph Arthur ...Pleas held before the
honorable George P. Tovance Esq, Presiding Judge and
Alexander Blair and Philip Gatch Esq. Associate Judges at
the Court of Common Pleas at the Courthouse in Williamsburg
for the County of Clermont at the term of August in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Twenty and of
Thiz State The Eighteen... This day the will and Testament
of Nathaniel Donham, late of this county deceased.....was
produced in my court at the Sev?....Recorded in Will Book B,
p468 .
p. 469__time came Jesse Swein(Swett) and James Arthur, two
subscribing witnesses thereto who being duly sworn depose
and say that the Testator signed the same in the presence
and that they signed Their names as witnesses to Said will
in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in
The presence of each other & that the testator published and
declared the same as his last will and testament and that
they believe the Testator, The said Nathaniel Donham to be
of Sound and deposing mind memory and judgment at the time
of signing & pronouncing The same, whereupon ordered said
will recorded
Additional Comments:
This was written in 1812 and probated at the August Court
1820, therefore he died in the interim. The sons he
mentions DAVID and LEWIS remained in Pennsylvania.
Nathaniel Donham/Dunham is listed on the 1784 and 1785 tax
lists of Washington Co., PA; also the 1790 Federal Census
with 2 males over 16, 6 males under 16 and 2 females.
Lewis, 19 years, was living with him. The Commonwealth of PA
had granted him 215 1/2 A on Ruff's Creek adjoining Wm.
Lee's and called Sherwood in 1787 [#8274 bounty warrant for
a Nathaniel issued Jul. 16, 1789 for 100 ac., not recorded
until 1930 in Vol. .340. p 419.....Book 2, p.68) [NOTE:

The submitter is a descendant of both Nathaniel Dunham and
William Lee of Greene Co. PA
