In the name of God amen. I, John Whiteline of Napier Township, Bedford County, State
of Pennsylvania, farmer, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind, memory, and
understanding, praise be to God for it, and considering the certainty of Death and
the uncertainty of the time thereof and to the end, I may be the better prepared to
leave the world whenever it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make
and declare this my last will and testament in manner following: this is to say,
first and principally, I commend my soul into the hands of almighty God my Creator,
hoping for free pardon and remission of all my sins and to enjoy everlasting
happiness in the heavenly kindom through Jesus Christ my Savior, my body I commit
to the Earth at the discretion of my Executors herein after named. I will and
bequeath to my beloved wife Cevillah one good bed, one ___, three chairs, one
table, one German Chest, Cooking Stove and pipe and the necessary cooking
implements belonging to the stove and the necessary quantity of Cubards (sic) ware
such as plated dishes, cups, and saucers, knifes,& forks, my will is that my
beloved wife shall have two rooms upstairs, one large and the small rooms adjoining
during her natural lifetime and the balance of my personal property shall be sold
after being duly appraised and the proceeds thereof shall be divided among my
children as will be hereafter named. That is to say, my son John, my son John H.,
my son Nicholas, & my daughter Savinah, share and share alike, and my book accounts
against my sons & daughter shall be included as personal property. I will and
bequeath to my daughter Margaret, intermarried to Philip Emmert, ten dollars as her
share in full (she having received her share hertofore equal to all my children) as
well of the real Estate as of the personal property. My will is that my Daughter
Savinah shall have six sheep, one cow, and one heiffer, two hogs, six chairs, one
good bedstead and the necessary bedding, or in other words, one good bed, one good
barrow, one dining table, goods, one dough tray, and my corner cubboard and she
shall house and keep her dishes and plates that she now has. All the above decribed
articles I bequest to her as extra. My will is that my Real Estate shall be rented
or Leased out to the best advantage so long as my beloved wife shall live during
her natual life time. My wife Cevillah shall have pasture for one cow or two during
the summer and sufficient hay for one cow during the winter and she shall have
sufficient grain for to bread her, and her stocks such as three or four hogs and
such chickens as she wants to raise and she shall have the half of the garden
during her lifetime and the amount of the income of my farm (that is after the
support of my wife and my daughter Savinah so long as she will stay with her mother.
Shall be sold as my executors hereafter named shall think best. If my executors
think best to sel my farm before the death of my wife, they can do so, first
attaining her consent. And after the death of my beloved wife Cervillah, my farm
may be sold after due notice given to the highest and best bidder and the proceeds
of said sale shall be divided equal among my three sons and my daughter savinah,
sahre and share alike. And I make and ordain my son John Whiteline Jr. and my son
John H. Whiteline, my lawful Executors fo this my last will and testament. In
____whereof, I, the said John Whiteline, to this my last will and testament set my
hands and seal declaring this is to be my last will and testament dated the 12 day
of August A.D. 1850

14th day of September A.D. 1850

Personly appeared before the Subscriber one of our Justices of the Peace in
and for Said County Nicholas Kegg & Solomon Egolf the two appraisors of the
goods and Chattles of John Whiteline deceased, and after being duly sworn
according to law, do depose & say that they did appraise all the goods and
Chattles of John Whiteline des what had been presented to them by the
Executors of Said deceased.
