Fatal Collapse of Building.

At Philipsburg yesterday morning the new skating rink, which was
being hurried through to completion by the contractors, collapsed,
almost instantly killing Christopher Manges, one of the carpenters, and
injuring several others. Those receiving the most serious and painful
injuries were Emory Hoover, of DuBois, one of the contractors, who had
one of his arms broken, and Ed Farber, one of the Philipsburg Electric
Light Co.'s electricians, who had one of his ankles wrenched and one of
his sides bruised.
Probably a dozen or more of men were in the rink when it collapsed.
The front of the building first gave way, which let down the heavy roof
and bulged out the sides. Manges, who was sitting at a front window
filing his saw, was probably struck on the head by one of the cross
beams holding up the roof. His neck was broken.
