Pennsylvania Furnace Man Declared Dead

  Staff Sgt. Eugene J. Harpster, 21, of Pennsylvania Furnace, who was 
reported missing in action over Berlin April 18, 1944, has been 
declared presumably dead in a letter from the War Department received 
recently by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira C. Harpster. 
  Sgt. Harpster, a radio operator on a B-17 bomber, attended the Pine 
Grove Mills schools and was graduated from the State College High 
School.
  In addition to his parents he is survived by the following brothers 
and sisters: Mae of Worcester, Mass., Vernie, Emeline, Donald, Kenneth, 
all at home.  Before entering the service, he was employed at the 
Hollidaysburg State Hospital.
