John Cowfer 

  John Cowfer, 82, of Fowler Lane, Port Matilda died Thursday, 
September 13, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State 
College. 
  Arrangements will be announced by the Feller Memorial Home.

Johnny Cowfer 

  Johnny Cowfer, 82, of Fowler Hollow Lane, Port Matilda, died 
Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Nittany Medical 
Center, State College.
  He was born February 21, 1925 in Sandy Ridge, a son of Horace and 
Alice (Crain) Cowfer. On October 14, 1946 in Hannah Furnace he married 
Elaine Hosband.
  Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Sharon Weaver and husband 
Larry of Port Matilda and Joy Lee Cramer and longtime companion Wilmer 
Scott of Petersburg RD5; five grandchildren, Kristen Lehner and husband 
Tim, Kurtis Weaver and wife Elizabeth, Robert Cramer and wife Annette, 
Jon Cramer and wife Kim and Travis Cramer and fiancee Jennifer Lyons; 
nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice Cole of Port Matilda and two 
brothers, Horace Jr. of Tyrone and Earl of Port Matilda. He was 
preceded in death by a brother, Lambert and a baby sister, Maxine.
  Mr. Cowfer retired in 1995 from the State College Area School 
District as a custodian at Radio Park Elementary School following 35 
years service. He was previously employed at Port Matilda Brickyard 
General Refractories and at Cerro Copper, Bellefonte.
  He was a member and actively involved in the Hannah United Methodist 
Church, Port Matilda where he had served as superintendent for a number 
of years.
  He was a US Army veteran of WWII serving as a staff sergeant in the 
640th Engineer Service Company in Northern France and Austria.
  Johnny enjoyed being with family, traveling, hunting and camping at 
Hidden Valley Resort, Lewisburg.
  Funeral services will be held Monday, September 17, 2007 at 11 a.m. 
at Feller Memorial Home with Pastor Clair Pannebaker and Rev. Samuel 
Reese officiating. Interment with veterans honors, accorded by an Army 
detail from Fort Indiantown Gap, will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 
Taylor Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. 
until the time of services.
  Memorial gifts may be made to Hannah United Methodist Church, c/o
