BERTRAM

Thomas Bertram, who resided in this city and was employed by the
Pennsy as an engineer on the Pittsburgh division, dropped dead on
Monday evening at Bellefonte, where he had gone to spend several days
with his wife and family. He made his accustomed trips on Sunday and
yesterday left on the 12.10 train for his home where he usually spent
several days about every two weeks. The message received by Altoona
friends this morning says that he had just entered the front gate into
his yard, when he was seen to fall over. When his wife reached his
side, he had expired. The cause of this death was heart trouble. He
had not complained of feeling ill when he left this city yesterday
morning. Thomas Bertram was 59 years, was a member of St. John's
Catholic church and several of the fraternal organizations, including
the Brotherhoods of Railroad Engineers. He is survived by his wife,
two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Donovan of Bellefonte and Ruth at home, and
two sons, Joseph in France with the American Expeditionary forces and
Edward at home. Two brothers of this city, John of Washington avenue,
and Henry of Sixth avenue and Twenty-third street, and two sisters,
Mrs. H. A. Engelhart and Mrs. Joseph Link of Ebensburg. Private
funeral services at the home in Bellefonte Thursday morning.
