  Alexandria Bennett died at his home at Port Matilda on Sunday of last 
week from dropsy, aged about 63 years.  During the war, he was a member 
of company A, 125th Pennsylvania volunteers, commanded at the 
organization of the regiment by Capt. F. M. Bell of Tyrone, who later 
became major of the regiment.  Deceased was buried at Curtain by the 
honors of a war, a detachment of Company B, Fifth Regiment, N.G.P., of 
Bellefonte, firing the salute over the grave.  Mr. Bennett was one of a 
gang of six men who made charcoal for Tyrone Forge a number of years 
after the close of the war.  They were David Waite, Alex. Miller, 
William Waite, Alex. Bennett, Adam Waite and Samuel Bressler.  Samuel 
Bressler is the only one of the gang now living.  He lives in Snyder 
Township, just north of Tyrone, and works at the saw and planing mills 
of F. D. Beyer & Co.
