In Blessed Memory.

Mrs. Anna Bean, of whose death brief mention has already been made,
passed peacefully into her eternal rest at her late residence in Port
Matilda, Centre county, Pa., Sunday evening, January 11, 1891. That
"the memory of the just is blessed" is again beautifully exemplified in
the long and useful life of this estimable Christian mother. Well may
her large family of sons and daughters, prominent among whom is Rev. A.
J. Bean, pastor of the Sinking Valley Lutheran charge, "rise up and
call her blessed," as may her friends and neighbors, who, too, "knew
her but to love her." Early orphaned, she became the companion of her
brother, Rev. Daniel Moser, of sainted memory, until her marriage with
Mr. Thomas Bean, who, with three of their family, a lovely daughter,
and their two brave young soldier sons, have long since preceded her to
the grave.
The impressive funeral services were held in the Baptist church,
which had been kindly tendered by Ref. Isaac Krider, of Duncansville,
assisted by Rev. Young, of the Methodist Episcopal church, after which
the interment was made in the family burying ground, Half Moon valley.
In the summing up of her posterity the record stands: Eleven children
- six sons and five daughters - the youngest, Miss Emma, her mother's
comfort and solace till the "lamp of life were out;" thirty grand
children, and twenty-two great-grandchildren. A protracted illness of
great suffering, borne with Christian fortitude, was the closing link
to this full life, and so "He giveth His beloved sleep."
