ARMSTRONG - Abraham L. Armstrong died Wednesday afternoon at about 1 o'clock at
his home on Water street, Bellefonte. He had been ill for about one year with a
complication of diseases, having not been able to work for six months. He was
born at Pleasant Gap and a number of years ago moved to Bellefonte where he was
employed at the Bush House as a mixologist. Several months ago he resigned his
position at the Bush House and went to Greensburg where he secured what he
thought was a better position. His health continued to fail and he returned
home and for fourteen weeks he was in bed. He was always a big, stout, robust-
looking man, whose appearance indicated that he might live until an old age,
but appearances are awful deceiving many times. Mr. Armstrong possessed a big
heart and stood ready at all times to render assistance to those who were in
need. He was the kind of man who would share the last crust with his friends.
Being of a jolly disposition, his kindness and goodness of heart will be
missed. He was 51 years of age and is survived by a wife and three children:
Curtin, Mary and Irene, all at home; also by the following sisters and
brothers: Mrs. Etta Kramer, of Rock; Mrs. Rillia Eckenroth of Pleasant Gap;
Joshua of Center Hall; Frank of Oklahoma and William and Daniel, of Kansas. The
funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the services
conducted by Revs. Wilcox and Winey. Interment at Pleasant Gap.

Additional Comments:
Abraham, son of Joshua and Sarah Armstrong, died 7 September 1910 and was
buried 11 September. Also, this obituary indicates that he was 51. His cemetery
marker indicates he was born in 1866 which would be impossible since his father
died during the Civil War in July 1864. The 1880 Census indicates he was born
in 1861. The 1900 Census indicates he was born July 1861 which seems the most
likely date. He therefore would have been 49 when he died.
