Mrs. I. Elizabeth (Betty) Beatty, 85, died at Mount Pleasant Retirement
Village in Monroe, Ohio on October 8, 2003 after a long illness. She was the
wife of Rev. Clair E. Beatty, who served as pastor of churches in Salineville,
Columbus, Covington, Carlisle and as interim pastor in many other churches.
Betty was born in New Lebanon, Pa. on December 20, 1917 to T. Marvin and
Pearle (Dillinger) Silvis. She participated in the Meals on Wheels program in
Miamisburg, Wimodausians in Carlisle, Woman's Day Circle at Slifers
Presbyterian Church, and was currently a member of the Monroe Presbyterian
Church. She is survived by her husband, Clair, whom she married on August 31,
1939. They have lived at Mt. Pleasant in Monroe since 1995. Also surviving are
four daughters, Mary Beatty of Wellsville, Ohio, Edna Palmer of Franklin,
Ohio, Helen Beatty of Lisbon, Ohio and Carol (Larry) Galyon of Knoxville, Tn.;
two grandchildren, Rev. Amy (Kenneth) Haines of Payne, Ohio and Jennifer
(Scott) Tucker of Middletown, Ohio; one brother, William Kenneth Silvis of
Indiana; three sisters, Dorothy Hollis of N.Y., Mable Allen of Maryland, Doris
Henneman of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents,
she was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Silvis formerly of
Pennsylvania. Visitation will be at the Eaton-Anderson & Unglesby Funeral
Home, 1357 E. Second Street, Franklin, Ohio on Friday, October 10, 2003 from
5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Visitation will then be held at Roberts Funeral Home, 631
Main Street, Wellsville, Ohio on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to
8:00 P.M. Services will be at Roberts Funeral Home on Monday at 11:00 A.M.
with burial at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A service of praise to God
will be held later at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers,
gifts may be given to Ohio Christian Endeavor, Christian Endeavor
International or to Mt. Pleasant Life Care Fund.
