CHARLES H. BENCE, 206 Emerson St.; Vandergrift, died following injuries
received when the car in which he was riding when over the 30 foot
embankment on the Altman Hill, Park Township, Armstrong County. He is a son
of Henry and Emma Cribbs Bence and was born November 15th, 1885 in Indiana
County.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hulda Bence of Vandergrift, one daughter,
Mrs. Leslie Turner, Vandergrift, and five sons, Donald and Leroy, Apollo;
Blair of Indiana, S.Sergeant Carl, Camp Chosse, Ark., and Homer of
Vandergrift. His father, Henry Bence, Canton, Ohio, two brothers, Emery of
Vandergrift and Harry of Dixonville; four sisters, Mrs. Emma Kaiser and Mrs.
Clara Keto of Canton, O. Mrs. Iva West and Mrs. Mary Spencer of Reading, PA
and ten grandchildren also survive.
Friends are being received at the Thompson Funeral Home, 274 Franklin
Avenue, Vandergrift, where services will be conducted Monday evening at 8:00
o'clock by Reverend Fred T. Diddle. Tuesday morning the body will be removed
to the Robinson Funeral Home, Indiana, where friends will be received from
10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, 1:30 o'clock. Reverend Diddle will
conduct the service. Interment in Oakland Cemetery.
