ARVILLA BENCE, 77, of 110 S. 13th St., Indiana, died Tuesday, April 19,

1988, at the Indiana Hospital.



A daughter of Christopher and Elizabeth Lovell Butterworth, she was born

Nov. 14, 1910 in Clymer.



Formerly of Clymer, she had resided in Indiana the past 23 years.



Surviving are two brothers: Chris and Winton L. Butterworth, Indiana; four

stepsons: Harry O. and Carl R. Bence, Clymer; Edward Bence, Poughkeepsie,

N.Y.; William Bence, Garden Grove, Calif.; a number of stepgrandchildren;

five nieces and one nephew.



She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Emma Edwards; her

husband, Carl R. Bence in 1971.



Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday at the Frank T.

Mihalcik Funeral Home, Indiana, where services will be held at 1:30 pm

Friday, with Rev. James McCauley, officiating. Interment will follow in

Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
