Katherine Beatty

  Katherine L. Beatty, 83, Clarks-
burg RD 1, died Wednesday, Feb. 11,
1998, at Indiana Hospital..
  The daughter of Eslie and Flor-
ence Edna Muhlenbery Summy, she 
was Born July 3, 1914 in Mt. Pleas-
ant, but lived in Clarksburg most of
her life.
  Katherine and her husband, Wil-
bur Beatty, were avid business peo-
ple, having started in business with
the Beatty Feed Milling Company
then continuing on to own and oper-
ate the Beatty Hardware and Feed
store for 19 years.  They also owned
and operated the Beatty L.P. Gas
Company and the Beatty Sharpening
Shop from 1974 to1984.
  Mrs. Beatty was a member of 
Trinity United Presbyterian Chruch,
Clarksburg, where she was the
church organist for many years
before retiring in 1988.  She was also
a deacon of the church and a
memeber of Blairsville Grange 2012.
  She is survived by three sons:
Ronald L., Knoxville, Tenn; Ken-
eth D., Virginia Beach, Va.; and
Dennis E. Beatty, Conemaugh
Township; seven grandchildren and
five great-grandchildren.
  She is perceded in death by her
parents; her husband in 1994; two
sisters: Edna Summy and Rose E.
Trout; three brothers:Charles H.,
Harry D. and John A. Summy.
  Friends will be received from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Curran
Funeral Home Inc., 701 Salt St.,
Saltsburg, where a funeral service
will be held Saturday, at 10 a.m. the
Rev. Dr. Tom Hones will officiate
and interment will follow in the Twin
Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
