Howard Ackerson
Howard L. Ackerson, 80, Marion
Center, died Wednesday, Dec. 17,
1997, in the Indiana Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1917, in Marion
Center, he was the son of Harry and
Nebbie Dick Ackerson.
He was a lifelong resident of the
Marion Center area and was the
retired owner-operator of the Mari-
on Center Appliance Store. Mr. Ack-
erson was a member of the Gilgal
Presbyterian Church, Marion Cen-
ter RD2, and the Alert Lodge 936 of
the IOOF in Rochester Mills.
Surviving are his wife, Nora Mae
Good Ackerson; three daughters:
Mrs. Richard (Janet) Wolfe, Mur-
rells Inlet, S.C.; Mrs. Charles (Lois)
Mains, Cleveland, Ohio; and Mrs.
Gerald (Betty) Simpson, Marion
Center; one son, Kenneth and wife
Sharon Ackerson, Marion Center;
one sister, Mrs. Thelma Hoover,
Chambersburg; 13 grandchildren
and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; two sisters, Lois Ackerson
and Violet Ackerson Edwards, and
one brother, Arthur.
Friends will be received from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and until 1
p.m. Friday, time of services, at the
Pifer Funeral Home in Punxsutaw-
ney. The Rev. Timothy Monroe will
officiate and interment will be in the
Gilgal Cemetery, Marion Center RD
