Funeral Rites of Former Teacher
The funeral of Miss RUTH ANNA FORSYTHE, aged 80 years, who died at her home,
330 North Orange street, Media, on Monday, was held yesterday afternoon from the
Third Street Friends Meeting House, Media.
The speakers were: Mrs. CAROLINE BIDDLE, Mrs. ANN SHARPLESS, Mrs. HERMAN
COPE, ARTHUR PENNELL, PASSMORE ELKINTON, WILLIAM EVANS, BENJAMIN
WHITSON and JAMES PENNELL.
They all spoke of the wonderful character of the deceased and of the excellent advice she
had given some of them as they were leaving college to enter the business world.
Miss FORSYTHE had taught in the Friends' School at Moorestown, N. J., in her younger
days.
She never lost interest in educational matters. She and her surviving sister, Miss
EMILY FORSYTHE, traveled extensively. They spent considerable time in California and
the Southern States.
The deceased was interested in the Media branch of the Needlework Guild of America
and made attractive garments each year.
She loved nature and enjoyed flowers, she liked working among them in her garden.
A number viewed the body at the late residence of the deceased on Wednesday
evening.
Interment was at MIDDLETOWN FRIENDS' BURYING GROUND. The pallbearers were:
JESSE FORSYTHE, JOHN FORSYTHE, WALTER EVANS, WILLIAM EVANS, HOWARD
WORRELL and ROWLAND EVANS.
