                      MEDIA YOUTH DIES IN TEXAS PLANE CRASH
                                  January 1951

         A Media youth was killed Friday in the crash of a U. S. Airforce plane
     in Texas.
 
         The victim was Cpl. WILLIAM E. DAVIS, Jr., 23. He was the son of
     Mrs. ALBERT E. PRITCHARD, of 122 Pennock pl., Media.
 
         DAVIS' stepfather said the family received a notice from Lackland
     Airfield, Texas, that the crash happen about eight miles west of 
     San Antonio. No other details were furnished.
 
         DAVIS who would have celebrated another birthday in March, was a
     graduate of Media High School, 1945.
 
         He entered Dickinson College and studied for two years. Then he
     joined the airforce. 
 
         After spending two years in Japan with occupation forces, he returned
     to this country and civilian life. Last October, he re entered the airforce
     and intended to make it his career.
 
         In high school and college DAVIS was a member of the football teams.
     He was a lineman.
