                    T. F. BATIPPS DIES AT 74

        MEDIA -- THOMAS F. BATIPPS of 601 Washington av.,
        a funeral director for 43 years, died Friday in Fitzgerald
        Mercy Hospital, Darby, following a brief illness. He was
        74.
            He was born in Springfield but his family moved to
        Media while he still was an infant. For years he was
        employed by the late JOSEPH E. QUINBY, a funeral
        director here.
            Mr. BATIPPS was a member of the South Media
        Citizens' Club and Trinity UAME Church in Media.
            Surviving are a son, CUTHBERT of Baltimore, Md.;
        three sisters, MRS. MARY SAUNDERS, 
        MRS. GEORGIANNA BROOKS and MRS. BERTHA 
        JOHNSON; two brothers, PERCY O. and SAMUEL
        BATIPPS, all of Media; seven grandchildren and 11
        great-grandchildren.
            Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Trinity
        UAME Church, Olive st. near 5th, followed by burial
        in Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester. 
        Viewing will be Thursday evening at the BATIPPS
        funeral home, 601 Washington av.
