	                   MEDIA MAN ENDS LIFE WITH SHOT
	
	        LEWIS C. BATIPPS, 41, a lifelong resident of Media,
	    ended his life at 5.45 p.m. yesterday by firing a shotgun
	    blast into his chest at his home, 621 South avenue. He
	    died instantly. Mr. BATIPPS, an employee of the Marshall
	    Coal Company in South Media, had been ill for a month.
	    He left a note, but its contents were not disclosed.
	        He was a son of BESSIE and the late WILLIAM C.
	    BATIPPS. Besides his mother who lives on Painter
	    street, he is survived by his wife, SARAH JANE; a
	    stepdaughter, HAZEL V. SMITH; a stepson, WILLIAM A.
	    SMITH; two sisters, Mrs. JEANETTE REID and Mrs.
	    LENA READING,  and a brother, CLARENCE. The latter
	    lives in Morton. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday
	    at the BATIPPS funeral parlors, 601 Washington avenue,
	    with burial in Union Hill Cemetery. The viewing will be
	    Friday night.
