Man Dies Suddenly of Strange Malady
Stomach Removed and Sent to Atlanta for Examination
A man by the name of Jack Boyd, about thirty years of age, died almost
suddenly at his home in the eastern part of town last Saturday night from some
serious malady or cause, and in order to ascertain if possible, the immediate
cause of death, his stomach was removed and the vital organs sent to Atlanta for
an examination.
He was taken sick Saturday afternoon about 6 o'clock and suffered two
severe chills and his fever began to rise and just before he died, the attending
physicians state that it reached 110 degrees. He lived for about an hour and a
half after being stricken.
It is said that he had been suffering for a year or more with a
complication of diseases, and his physicians conceded that one of these might
have produced death, but nothing definite can be decided until a report on the
contents of the dead man's stomach is received.
The funeral services and burial were held Monday morning at the Empire
cemetery. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Genie Boyd of this city and his
wife and several children.
