FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN WEST
5 - 19 - 1939
Miss MARGARET CHEYNEY, supervisor of art at the Media public school, has
received word of the death of her father, JOSEPH P. CHEYNEY, at Redlands,
California, on May 19.
Mr. CHEYNEY, who was 82 years old, was a resident of Media for a number of
years. He was born at Wallingford, a son of the late WALDRON and FANNIE
CHEYNEY. He left Media in 1920 and went to the Pacific Coast.
When residing in Media he was engaged in the photographic supplies business
in Philadelphia. He was an active member of the Media Men's Club and took an
active interest in all civic matters.
For a time Mr. CHEYNEY was engaged in the orange industry in Redlands,
retiring 10 years ago. He was exceedingly active for one of his years and was
proud of his age.
Mr. CHEYNEY's body was cremated on Sunday and the ashes will be sent
East and will be interred in the CHEYNEY FAMILY CEMETERY at Cheyney, this
county.
His survivors are his widow, EDNA K. CHEYNEY, of Redlands; two daughters,
Miss MARGARET K. CHEYNEY, of Media, and Miss FANNIE B. CHEYNEY, of
Plainfield, N. J.; a son, WALDRON J. CHEYNEY, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two
sisters, Mrs. ANNA CHEYNEY SMITH, of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. EDITH
CHEYNEY BERKLEY, of Oregon; two brothers, Dr. EDWARD P. CHEYNEY,
who resides near Media, and PAUL CHEYNEY, of Riverside, Calif.
