  GEORGE C. BORST, M.D., Mount Union, Huntingdon county, Pa., was born 
in Huntingdon county, March 9, 1854, son of George and Elizabeth C. 
(Caldwell) Borst. He was educated in the public schools, completing his 
course at Belleville Academy, and graduating in 1873. In the same year 
he began the study of medicine with S. T. Dare, M.D., of Lancaster, Pa. 
By reading during the summer, and attending lectures during the winter 
sessions at the Medical College at Belvidere, N.J., he was prepared for 
graduation in the spring of 1876. Soon after receiving his diploma, the 
Doctor went to Delaware, and remained in that State for two years. He 
came to Mount Union in the spring of 1878, and opened an office. Here 
he has ever since resided, winning for himself such esteem as a man, 
and such confidence as a skilled physician, that his standing in the 
community is both socially and professionally high. He has served as 
president of the county medical society. The Doctor was coroner for 
three years, being elected in 1883. he has also been school director 
for the borough of Mount Union. He belongs to Mount Union Lodge No. 
677, I.O.O.F., and has been for several years a member of Washington 
Camp No. 346, P.O.S. of A. He is a Republican.
  Dr. George C. Borst was married, June 2, 1877, to Henrietta D., 
daughter of Gideon E. Rothwell. Their children are: Lolita R.; and 
Annie G. The Doctor is an active member of the Methodist church; he has 
been one of the trustees of the church for nine years, and holds at 
present the office of steward.
