BARBARA B. BOLGER
Mrs. Bolger, 81, of 402 S. Maple St., Martinsburg, formerly of Lakemont
Terrace, died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 1982, in Nason Hospital, Roaring
Spring, after a brief illness.
She was born June 27, 1900, in Martinsburg, the daughter of Andrew and Susanna
(Rhodes) Brumbaugh, and April 2, 1921, in Cumberland, Md., married L. Courtney
Bolger, who died June 17, 1975.
Surviving are two children: Robert C. of Littleton, Colo., and John C. of
Martinsburg; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Anna Edgein and Mrs. Ruth McBurney of
Altoona.
Mrs. Bolger was a member of the Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg,
and United Workers Sunday School class.
She was also a member of the Altoona Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the John C.
Bolger Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. The family
prefers memorials to the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg.

BRENNECKE, Anna M. (SELWITZ), 1892

Mrs. Anna M. Brennecke.
At 5:50 o'clock yesterday morning Mrs. Anna M., wife of Christian Brennecke,
died at her home, No. 523 Eighth avenue, after months of sickness and suffering.
Mrs. Brennecke was born in Prussia, April 20, 1830, and was therefore 61 years,
8 months and 18 days of age at the time of her death. In addition to her
husband she is survived by seven children. These are: Misses Jennie R., Lizzie
and Anna M., residing at the family residence; William C. Brennecke, proprietor
of the White Hall hotel, of Altoona; Mrs. F. C. Gerhart, Mrs. F. J. Obermyer and
Mrs. T. C. O'Neil, also of this city. She is also survived by three brothers
and two sisters, who are A. U. and G. Selwitz and Mrs. C. Coltsbaugh of Carson
Valley; Mrs. Fred Solomon, of K____ and Charles Selwitz, Houtzdale. The funeral
services will be held at the late residence of the deceased on Tuesday
afternoon, beginning at 2 o'clock. They will be conducted by Rev. John Mueller,
pastor of the German Lutheran church, of which she was a member. At 2:45
o'clock the cortege will proceed to Fairview cemetery, where the interment will
take place.

RICHARD F. BRUNNHUBER
Mr. Brunnhuber, 46, of 729 Jackson Ave., died unexpectedly at 3:15 a.m. today,
April 26, 1984, in his home.
Mr. Brunnhuber retired as a machinist for F. L. Smithe, Duncansville, in 1983,
after 16 years' service.
He was born May 3, 1937, in Altoona, the son of Joseph and Anna Theresa
(Leipold) Brunnhuber, and Jan. 29, 1981, in Winchester, Va., married Martha Ann
Heisler.
Surviving are his wife, three children: Greg, Steven and Natalie of Altoona;
a stepdaughter, Sherry Scalzi of Altoona and two step-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his mother of Altoona and two sisters and a brother: Rita
Fornwalt and Joseph of Altoona and Rose Marie Hermesky of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Brunnhuber attended St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was a trustee of Swiss Rifle Club and Member of Unter Uns Society.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Stevens
Mortuary.
Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.

NAOMI R. CARLIN
72, of 710 E. Grant Ave., died at 3:15 a.m. today, July 21, 1980, in Altoona
Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born May 20, 1908, in Altoona, the
daughter of James D. and Ruth (Gorsuch) Wyandt, and April 17, 1925, in
Cumberland, Md., married Arthur K. Carlin. Surviving are her husband, four
children, Mrs. Mary Kimmel, Arthur K. Jr., Mrs. Patricia Armstrong and Mrs.
Shirley Woolford of Altoona; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a
brother and sister, Paul and Betty of Altoona. Mrs. Carlin was a member of the
United Church of Christ. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata.
Interment in Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

MRS. NANNIE G. CONFER DIED IN HUNTINGDON
HUNTINGDON. June 9. - Mrs. Nannie G. Confer, a well known resident of
Huntingdon and wife of L. G. Confer, died at her home, 1528 Moore street, on
Saturday afternoon, June 6, at 3 o'clock. Mrs. Confer had been in failing
health during the past year. She was born in Blair county on Nov. 28, 1858.
_____ _____ Street Methodist church. Surviving are her husband, one son,
William Confer of Harrisburg, and two daughters, Jessie E. Confer, at home, and
Mrs. C. M. Kyle of Tacoma Park, Md. Two brothers, William P. Wood of
Hollidaysburg and Edwin W. Wood of Plymouth, Mich., and three grandchildren also
survive.
Funeral services were conducted at the home this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock,
with Rev. G. F. Boggs officiating. Interment was made in the mausoleum at
Riverview cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Confer were former residents of Altoona, the husband being a
retired Pennsylvania railroad conductor, having a long term of service on the
Petersburg branch passenger train.

FORMER RESIDENT DIES.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 10. - Miss Jane S. Gift, aged 81, a resident of
this city for twenty-five years, died June 5 at the home of her sister, Mrs.
Ella Sorrick, 509 Sixth street north. She came here from Altoona, Pa., and was
a member of the Trinity Lutheran church. Funeral services took place Monday
afternoon at the Palms chapel with Rev. T. K. finch, officiating. Burial
followed in Royal Palm cemetery.

Daniel F. Glass
Died at his home, 116 Lexington avenue, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock of
paralysis. He had been ailing for the past three years. He was born September
24, 1823, at Henrietta and lived all his life in this county. He came to
Altoona in 1872 and had since been employed as a carpenter in the company's
freight shop. On July 16, 1854, he wedded Mrs. Mary Nicewonger, who, with these
children, survives: Mrs. Sarah Kelly, Mrs. Charlotte Detrow, Mrs. Lizzie Adams,
Mrs. Della Helley, Mrs. Minnie Stouch, David H., Martin H. and Louis H., all of
Altoona, and two stepsons, T. H. Nicewonger of this city and S. H. Nicewonger of
Winston, N. C., and one brother, Martin Glass, of this city. He was a member of
the Chestnut Avenue Methodist church. The deceased was a member of the
Voluntary Relief association. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon,
leaving his late residence at 2 o'clock and proceeding to the Chestnut Avenue
church, where services will be held: interment in Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Glunt, 80, of Hollidaysburg RD 1, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday, March 27,
1982, in Mercy Hospital, after an extended illness.
She was born July 20, 1901, in King, the daughter of Frank and Amanda (Mock)
Claycomb, and Sept. 13, 1924, in New York, married Frederick F. Glunt.
Surviving are her husband; 10 children: Mrs. Fern Putt and Harold in Ohio,
Ralph in Iowa, Mrs. Sylvia Ward in Missouri, Mrs. Verna Shaw of Warriors Mark,
Mrs. Ruby Houck of Honey Brook, Mrs. Vera Shaffer, Mrs. Doris Robertson and Dale
of Hollidaysburg, and Mrs. Beulah Vaughn of Altoona; a stepdaughter, Mrs.
Kathryn Marketta of Juniata; 55 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister and two brothers: Ray and Mrs. Elva Lowery of
Imler RD and Guy of Roaring Spring.
Mrs. Glunt was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, King.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday in the Marvin C. Leslie Funeral Home, Claysburg, and 1:30 to 2 p.m.
Wednesday in St. Mark's United Church of Christ. Interment in church cemetery.

It was announced in this city yesterday that Rev. William Holtapple, formerly
pastor of St. Mary's German Catholic church, of this city, had died in Hoboken,
N.J., of heart disease or paralysis. The interment took place in Hoboken on New
Year's day.

KAUFFMAN, Mary E., 1972
MARY E. KAUFFMAN
Of 25 S. 14th St., Easton, died today, Oct. 25, 1972, in Easton. She was born
in Altoona on Oct. 13, 1896, a daughter of Charles and Mabel Wagner, and married
Charles S. Kauffman, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter and
two sons, Miss Maude A. of Easton, George L. of Johnstown and Charles L. of Lock
Haven; six grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a sister and three brothers,
Mrs. Maude A. Stacey and John Wagner of Altoona, Earl S. Wagner, in Tennessee,
and Alfred B. Wagner, in Mississippi. Mrs. Kauffman was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Altoona and an employe of Easton Hospital, retiring from the
dietary department after 17 years of service. Friends will be received in the
Ashton Funeral Home, Easton, from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

CORA L. KAUP
Of Flemington, a native of Birmingham, Tyrone RD, died yesterday morning Feb.
3, 1974, at Lock Haven Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born Jan.
28, 1900, a daughter of James and Myrtle Dickson and married Frederick A. Kaup
on Nov. 12, 1919, in Birmingham. Mr. Kaup died Aug. 22, 1963. Surviving are
three children, Mrs. Pauline Wilson, with whom she resided for the past six
years, Mrs. Margaret Bailey of Amarillo, Tex., and George of Tyrone; 15
grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Kaup was a member of the
Flemington United Methodist Church. She was a past president of the Tyrone
American Legion and the VFW auxiliaries. She was past commander of the Disabled
American Veterans Auxiliary of Altoona. She served on the Tyrone Area School
Board for 30 years. Friends will be received in the Johnson Funeral Home,
Tyrone, from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and in the Birmingham Presbyterian Church from
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Of 1223 5th Ave., Duncansville, died unexpectedly at 11 a.m. yesterday, May
11, 1972, at her home. She was born June 23, 1890, in Irvona, a daughter of
Alfred and Effie (Mays) Erhard, and was twice married, to Andrew Mehaffie, who
died in December 1926, and then to Albert J. Keith who died in October 1965.
Surviving are five children, Paul E. Mehaffie of West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs.
Betty Blattenberger of Blacklick, Robert W. Keith of Seward, Mrs. Mary
Johnsonbaugh of Duncansville and Miss Lora Mehaffie of San Jose, Calif., three
stepchildren, Wilson Keith of Pensacola, Fla., Robert Weidel of Blue Knob and
Leon Elder of East Lake, Ohio: 44 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a
brother and sister, Mrs. Vada Schoening of Altoona and Morrell of Norfolk, Va.
Mrs. Keith was a member of the Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church,
Duncansville, and Unity Bible Class, Duncansville Golden Age Club and the WCTU.
Friends will be received in the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

KENDALL, Albert, 1974
Albert Kendall Dies; Owner Of Laboratory
Albert W. Kendall, 66, of 3428 Beale Ave., proprietor of Kendall Laboratories,
3614 Beale Ave., died at 2:35 a.m. yesterday, Jan. 13, 1974, in Mercy Hospital,
where he was admitted Jan. 7.
Kendall Laboratories has specialized in dairy water and food consultations and
bacteriology since Mr. Kendall being organized in 1947.
Mr. Kendall was born April 1, 1907, in West Middlesex, and was the adopted son
of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kendall. He married Ganelle E. Hollenback on May 21,
1945, in the First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are his wife, two children, Clifford P. and Miss Carolyn, at home,
and two brothers and a sister, Ernest Bovee of Kissimmee, Fla., and Sherman
Smock of Andover, Ohio, and Mrs. Goldie Phillips of Carey, Ohio.
Mr. Kendall was a member of the Broad Avenue United Presbyterian Church,
Juniata Lodge 282, F&AM, Hollidaysburg; Williamsport Scottish Rite bodies, Jaffa
Shrine Temple, Jaffa Legion of Honor, of which he was a past commander;
Pennsylvania Laboratory directors, Pennsylvania Dairy Sanitarians Association,
Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club.
His works in dairying and allied interests covers a span of more than 40
years, embracing all phases of the dairy industry.
He served three years in the Army Air Corps in World War II.
Friends will be received in the Carn Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
tomorrow. Interment in Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled
Children or the Burns Center.

KENNETH G. KENNEDY
Formerly of 518 4th Ave., and more recently a guest at Valley View Home, died
there at 2:55 a.m. today, Feb. 17, 1970, after an extended illness. He was born
in Altoona April 18, 1906, a son of Joseph R. and Tacy P. (Saller) Kennedy.
Surviving are his father and a brother, Marion, of Altoona, Mr. Kennedy was a
member of the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. Friends will be received in
the Myers Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

KENSINGER, Harold J., Sr., 1969
HAROLD J. KENSINGER SR.
Of 1101 8th Ave., died unexpectedly at his home at 12:10 a.m. today, Nov. 26,
1969. He was born in Henrietta Sept. 7, 1900, a son of Harry and Flora
(Dougherty) Kensinger, and married Dorothy M. Haddle in Johnstown Oct. 2, 1929.
Surviving are his wife, four children, H. James Jr. of Indiana, Pa., Mrs. Lois
Mosser of Cresson, Mrs. Marjorie Conion and Mrs. Vivian Irvin of Altoona; 12
grandchildren, two brothers and a sister, Edwin of Hollidaysburg, John of
Schuylkill Haven, and Mrs. Florence Mummert of Altoona. Mr. Kensinger was a
member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, teacher of the Crusader Bible
Class, president of the Senior Choir, served for 11 years as superintendent of
the Sunday School and was a member of the Adult Christian Endeavor Society. He
was a member of Hiram Lodge, F&AM, and former member of the Altoona Choral
Society. He retired in September 1965 from the Pennsylvania Railroad, after 49
years of service. Friends will be received in the Gilden Barton Funeral Home
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

KESSLER, Elsie PHILLIPS, 1980
ELSIE PHILLIPS KESSLER
77, FORMERLY OF 1316 21ST Ave., died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 13, 1980, in
Altoona Hospital. Mrs. Kessler retired as a nurse from the Altoona Hospital in
1928, after three years' service. She was born Feb. 1, 1903, in Riddlesburg,
the daughter of Abraham and Florence (Foreman) Phillips, and April 5, 1928, in
Altoona, married Harry Edward Kessler, who died Aug. 19, 1979. Surviving are
two children, Gene Edward of Waynesboro and Mary Kessler Hollister of
Coatesville, three grandchildren and two brothers, Merrill of Riddlesburg and
George of Martinsburg. Mrs. Kessler was a member of the First Lutheran Church,
Radio Bible Class, Rebeccah Circle, Allegheny Lutheran Home Auxiliary and
Gettysburg League. In 1975, she was named a life member of the Altoona Hospital
Alumni. She was also a member of the Altoona Hospital Auxiliary and a 1925
graduate of the Altoona School of Nursing. Friends will be received from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Warren H. Replogle Funeral Home.
Interment in Alto-Reste Park.

AZIZ K. KHALOUF
90, of 501 Walnut St., Irwin, died Sunday, March 23, 1980, in Syria, the son
of Khalil and Foumia (Charley) Khalouf. Surviving are his wife, Waheeba; three
sons, Dr. Herbert of Marion, Ind.; George A. of Venetia and Arthur of North
Huntingdon; nine grandchildren and six brothers and sisters, Elias K. of
Duncansville, Fred of Altoona, George and Martha Khoury of Beirut, Lebanon:
Besimah Bashour of Safita, Syria, and Emily of Tripole, Lebanon. Mr. Khalouf
was an elder of the Irwin Presbyterian Church and a member of the Presbyterian
Seniors, Silver Liners and AARP. Interment was made in Irwin.

KIEL - Mrs. Mary, 98, 805 S. Railroad Avenue, Portage, died at 11:50 p.m. Jan.
7, at home. Born May 5, 1867, in Pittsburgh, daughter of John and Elizabeth
(Jones) Noel. Preceded in death by husband, Harry, and these children: Clara,
Ollie, Florence, Mary and Russell. Survived by these children: Harry and
Robert, both of Portage; Earl, Cresson; Mrs. Laura Hite, Omaha, Neb.; Mildred
and Mrs. Sue VasBinder, both at home, and Sister M. Fides, RSM, Mount Aloysius
Junior College, Cresson; also 23 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 27
great-great-grandchildren. Requiem Mass at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church, Portage, by the Rev. John Miller. Interment, St. Bartholomew's
Cemetery, Wilmore. Friends are being received at the Clifford M. Beck Funeral
Home, Portage, where Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

KIMMEL, Edgar C., 1965

EDGAR C. KIMMEL
Of 2500 Crawford Ave., died at 7:40 a.m. yesterday enroute to Mercy Hospital
from his home. He was born in Altoona on Feb. 2, 1894, a son of John and
Catherine (Carl) Kimmel, and married Catherine B. Stoehr, who died May 1, 1962.
Surviving are four children, John G. of Johnstown, Mrs. Betty English, with whom
he resided, Leo of Greensburg and Paul of Vineland, N.J., and 13 grandchildren.
A son, Richard, was killed Dec. 16, 1943, in World War II while serving in the
Navy. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of St. George,
Eagles and Frohsinn Society, a veteran of service in the Army Engineers in World
War I and a retired machinist of the P.R.R. Mr. Kimmel will repose in the T. J.
Stevens Funeral Home until 9 p.m. today

KIRCHNER, Mr. & Mrs. Frank J., 1969
Former Altoona Husband, Wife Die In Florida
Two former Altoonans, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Kirchner, residing at 224 Boylston
Ave., Daytona Beach, Fla., died within a three-day period there last week.
Their bodies are being returned to Altoona for interment.
Mrs. Kirchner was the first to die, on March 20, 1969. She was born in
Altoona, a daughter of Aloysius and Mary (Wiseman) Karl, and was twice married,
first to Karl H. Binnmueller, who died Oct. 11, 1946, then to Mr. Kirchner.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Potter, of the Daytona Beach
address, and Sister M. Marcelene, C.S.A., of Fond u Lac, Wis. In Altoona, Mrs.
Kirchner was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mr. Kirchner, who died March 23, 1969, was born in Austria in 1886. He, too,
was twice married, his first wife, Catherine, dying in 1955. He is survived by
a sister in Austria. In Altoona, he was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church
and worked as a butcher.

KISSELL - August Earl, 79, 2523 Bedford Street, Geistown, died at 7 p.m. Dec.
18, 1965, at Mercy Hospital. Born Sept. 18, 1886, in Seward, son of Valentine
and Nancy Jane (Good) Kissell. Survived by widow, the former Ida Rager, and 4
children - Clair, 2521 Bedford Street; Mrs. Esther Feathers, at home, and Freda,
wife of Norman Franz, and Roy, both of Detroit, Mich.; also 3 grandchildren and
5 great-grandchildren. Brother of Jay, Lantana, Fla.; Mrs. Ruth Miller, 101
Arbutus Avenue, and Mrs. Dora Kline, 2722 Bedford Street. Friends received from
7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the R. Owen
Ketterer Funeral Home, Geistown, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday,

STEPHEN F. KNEPPER, 30, of 6890 Griffin Road, Davie, Fla., formerly of 924 S.
9th St., died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 1980, from injuries received in
an accident on the Florida Turnpike, approximately 10 miles north of Fort
Lauderdale. Mr. Knepper was employed as a construction worker. He was born
Aug. 10, 1949, in Altoona, a son of Robert F. and Patricia C. (Handzerlia)
Knepper. Surviving are his parents, five brothers and sisters, Mrs. Beth Ann
Hilling of Huntingdon and Michelle, Scott, Kent and Kelly, at home, and his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Knepper of Altoona. Mr. Knepper was a member of
St. Mary's Catholic Church. Friends will be received at Stevens Mortuary from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.

MICHAEL KOLARCZYK
Of Coupon died at 11:10 a.m. Monday, June 19, 1978, in Altoona VA Hospital,
following an extended illness. Mr. Kolarczyk retired as a brakeman from
Conrail. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born Dec. 8, 1917, in
Coupon, a son of Joseph and Anna (Plewa) Kolarczyk. Surviving are five brothers
and sisters, Leo of Johnstown, Mrs. Rose Pleva of Altoona, Mrs. Josephine Pelva
of Coupon, Stanley of Gallitzin and Mrs. Sophia Smithmyer of Marlboro, Md. Mr.
Kolarczyk was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Coupon. He was also a
member of the Italian Beneficial Club, Coupon; Polish Falcon Society and St.
Michael's Club, both of Gallitzin, and the Hollidaysburg American Legion.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Donald J.
Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville.

Of 720 Walnut St., Roaring Spring died at her home at 11 p.m. yesterday, Aug.
13, 1971, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Donnerstown on Feb. 13,
1905, a daughter of Archie and Rachel (Sell) Claar, and was married to David W.
Koones in Curryville on Dec. 13, 1924, by the Rev. John Miller. Surviving are
her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Coates of Roaring Spring; five
grandchildren, her mother of East Freedom, and nine brothers and sisters, Fred
of Orlando, Fla., Ira and Orville of East Freedom, Mrs. Marie McConahy and Bruce
of Roaring Spring, Mrs. Orpha Feathers of Claysburg RD, Mrs. Gertrude Black of
Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Edith Dively of East Freedom RD and Mrs. Marian Lear of
Duncansville RD. Mrs. Koones was a member of the First Church of the Brethren
and the Truth Seekers Bible Class, Roaring Spring. Friends will be received in
the Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, from 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow, 4 to 10
p.m. Monday and after noon Tuesday in the church.

Ave, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 1979, in Altoona Hospital, where she was
born earlier in the day. Surviving are her parents and grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Stanley Kotzatoski of Altoona and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Shauf of Bellwood.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Blair Memorial
Park, Bellwood, by the Rev. Alvin Huff. Arrangements by the Stanley J. Krish
Funeral Home.

Of Beaver Valley, Flinton RD died at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 2, 1978, in her
home, following an extended illness. Mrs. Kutruff retired as an assistant
supervisor from the McGregor Sportswear manufacturing plant, Coalport. She was
born May 19, 1900, in Beaver Valley, a daughter of Courtez and Emma (Troxell)
Fleming, and March 4, 1919, in Ebensburg married Philip J. Kutruff. Surviving
are her husband, four children, Harold and Paul of Beaver Valley, Mrs. Dorothy
Blake of Coalport and Mrs. Verla Bennett of Latrobe; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-
grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Glasgow and Mrs. Sue Delozier of
Glasgow and Mrs. Lena Harpster of Beaver Valley, Flinton RD. Mrs. Kutruff was a
member of the Beaver Valley United Methodist Church. Friends will be received
from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Plass Funeral
Home, Glasgow, and 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church.

OILER, Jacob F., 1897

Elder Jacob F. Oiler
One of the most prominent clergymen in the Brethren (Dunkard) church, died in
the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore at 9:30 o'clock on Saturday morning.
The fatal operation was the third which he had undergone, the object being the
removal of a tumor which caused his illness. The deceased was born in Franklin
county, January 18, 1825. In early life he taught school. Afterwards he
followed mercantile pursuits and at his death was a member of the Geiser, Price
& Co. manufacturing firm and president of the Waynesboro bank. He had been a
minister in the Dunkard church for forty years and an elder since 1883. He
ranked among the foremost workers in the denomination and was universally
esteemed and respected by the members of that brotherhood. Conservatism and
untiring zeal and energy characterized his work in the church and honesty and
unquestionable integrity that portion of his life in which he dealt with the
world at large. He is survived by his wife and three sons and four daughters.
The remains will be interred at his home town, Waynesboro.

THEOPHILUS CLAIR PUTT
52, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Hollidaysburg, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday,
July 17, 1980, in VA Hospital, Tucson. Mr. Putt was a lay minister of the
Missouri Synod Lutheran churches. He was also retired from the Air Force. He
was born March 30, 1928, in Hollidaysburg, the son of Oscar Albert and Elsie
(Manning) Putt, and May 14, 1950, married Dolores Stiffler. Surviving are his
wife, four children, Thomas, David, Robert and Diane of Tucson, and a grandson.
Mr. Putt attended the Hollidaysburg High School. Interment was made in
Arlington, Va.

BESSIE M. SHECKLER
Mrs. Sheckler, 88, of 602 Park Ave., Tyrone, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, March 28,
1982, in Tyrone Hospital, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Sheckler retired from the inspection department of Chicago Rivet and
Machine Co., Tyrone, in 1958, after 11 years' service.
She was born May 23, 1893, Tyrone, the daughter of George and Ellen (Wallace)
Port, and Feb. 19, 1913, in Cumberland, Md., married George T. Sheckler, who
died in 1935.
Surviving are two children: Robert R. and Mrs. Bette Yingling of Tyrone;
seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sheckler was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Tyrone.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday
in the Theodore J. Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone.
Interment in Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone. In lieu of flowers, contributions in
her memory may be made to the chapel fund of Wesley United Methodist Church,
Tyrone.

ETTA MARIE SMITH
Mrs. Smith, 73, of Claysburg died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 1984, in
Mercy Hospital, after an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 21, 1910, in Claysburg, the daughter of J. Emory and Louella
(Burket) Burkett, and was twice married, first to David T. Knepper, then to
Peter Smith, both who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Donald Knepper of Beaverdale; three step-children:
Bernard Smith of Indiana, Pa.; Peter Smith Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Dorothy
Carlson of Sacramento, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her mother died March 19, 1984.
Mrs. Smith attended Claysburg Church of God.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Marvin C.
Leslie Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Interment in Upper Claar Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by a son, Galen W. Knepper.

On the 2d of January Mr. Stephen Woods died at New Florence, Westmoreland
county. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. J. M. McCraken, of No. 2311 Eighth
avenue, this city. The funeral will take place at New Florence at 10 o'clock
tomorrow morning.
