FRENCHVILLE RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Mary Coudriet Bamat, wife of Jules Bamat, died last evening at her
home at Frenchville, aged about 60 years. The deceased, who was a daughter of
the late S. N. Coudriet, spent all her life on the farm where she died. She was
a consistent Christian woman and a loving and indulgent wife and mother. She
had been in failing health for several years.
She is survived by her husband, two sons and three daughters, as follows;
William, at home; Ernest of Bald Hill; Mrs. Harold Jannott, Mrs. Elmer Huganey
and Mrs. Richard Plubell, all of Frenchville. Three sisters and two brothers
also survive. They are Lewis V. Coudriet of Clearfield; Peter Coudriet, of
LeConte's Mills; Mrs. Joachim Lachat, of Frenchville; Mrs. John E. Rouguex, of
Girard Township, and Mrs. J. D. Connelly of Clearfield.
The funeral will be held from the Catholic church at Frenchville Thursday
morning at 10 o'clock, with interment in the cemetery adjoining the church.

GRASS FLAT WOMAN'S INJURIES PROVE FATAL
Mrs. Jane Coudriet Bergey, well known and highly respected, passed away at
the home of her son, Alex Bergey, in Grass Flat, on Monday, November 10, 1919,
as the result of injuries received when she fell down a flight of stairs in the
home a day or two before.
Mrs. Bergey was a daughter of the late Francis Coudriet, one of the first
settlers in the Frenchville region, and spent about all her life in that
neighborhood.
The deceased was a consistent christian woman and a devout member of the
Catholic church. She was in the 77th year of her age. Her husband preceded her
in death some twenty years ago.
She leaves a family of 7 children to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted
mother as follows: Frank, of Frenchville; Mrs. Justin Guenot, of Karthaus; Mrs.
Joseph Royer, of Keewaydin; Alex, of Grass Flat; Mrs. John Fontenoy, of
Surveyor; Mrs. John Fontenoy and Mrs. Raymond Rolley, of Clearfield. She is
also survived by thirty-two grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren,
two brothers and one sister.
The funeral was held at St. Mary's Catholic church Frenchville on Thursday
morning, Nov. 13th at 9 o'clock, Rev. Father Renehan celebrating a requiem high
mass. Interment in the family plot in Frenchville cemetery.

CONNELLY - Mrs. Minnie I. Connelly widow of the late J. D. Connelly, Clearfield,
newspaperman, died at her home at 104 South Fourth Street, Clearfield on
Saturday afternoon, following an attach on influenza and pneumonia.
She had been a sufferer of heart trouble for some time prior to her most recent
illness. The deceased was born in Covington Twp., on March 25, 1870 and was a
daughter of Serdon and Nancy Cowderick. In October 1890, the deceased married
James D. Connelly, who preceded her in death on March 28, 1928. These children
survive; Thomas J., of the US NAVY, aboard the USS New York at San Pedro, Calif;
Daniel J. of Cleveland, Ohio and Mrs. Helen Markle of Clearfield. Two sisters
and a brother survive; Mrs. Lucy Satchat, Mrs. Ella Rougeux and Peter Cowdrick
all of Frenchville. Funeral services, were held on Tuesday morning at the St.
Francis Catholic Church here; interment in Calvary Cemetery.

At her home in the village of Frenchville, Covington Township, Tuesday
evening, January 1st 1895, Anne, wife of Serdon N. Coudriet, aged 60 years 7
months and 21 days.
The deceased's maiden name was Leigey and she was born near Frenchville
May 11, 1834. She was married to Serdon Coudriet October 24, 1853. To this
union was born nine children, seven of whom are living.
Mrs. Coudriet was a true christian woman and a helpmeet in every way. Her
life was a truly exemplary one. An open book, which served as a guidance to her
family and her near friends. Always kind and benevolent her home was one of
happiness and many weary travelers found comfort and hospitable entertainment
there. Her death was sudden, being ill but a couple of hours, but she was
always ready to obey the Master's call as she lived happy in anticipation of
life everlasting.
Her husband and seven children viz; Mrs. August Rougeux, Mrs. Joachim
Lachat, Mrs. Jule Bamat and Miss Ella, of Covington; Lewis V., of Karthaus and
Peter C. and Mrs. James D. Connelly, of Clearfield, survive her, as also her
brothers, Hubert and Louis, and her sisters, Mrs. August Huganey, Mrs. Daniel
Longin and Mrs. Nicholas Martel, all resident of the vicinity.
The funeral took place Thursday, January 3d, interment in the Catholic
cemetery after a requiem mass in the church, Rev. Father Sibereen celebrant.

Farewell, Charlie Coudriet
Past NHEMA president Charlie Coudriet died on February 28 after a long and
courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Charlie was a tremendous credit and
asset to NHEMA and our industry. In his leadership of Dominion Capital and Saxon
Mortgage, he exemplified a commitment to ethics, fairness and customer service.
He gave his time generously to NHEMA in a variety of capacities, including Board
member, Executive Committee member, Government and Public Affairs Committee
chair and president. Charlie's term as president in 2000-2001 coincided with one
of our industry's toughest years. He handled the pressure with grace and
composure, and provided the clearheaded leadership NHEMA needed to stay strong
and vital through this difficult time. Charlie was a credit to our industry and
one of NHEMA's most valued members. He will be sorely missed.

Stab Victim Dies From Gunshot Wound
Philipsburg - A 79 year old Philipsburg man who reported he was the victim of a
stabbing incident in his home at the Rusnak Trailer Park on New Year's Eve, died
Saturday evening of a self inflicted gunshot wound, according to Centre Co.
assistant coroner Robert Trump.
Earl Coudriet was found about midnight in the home of his son, Richard
Coudriet, in Curtis Park. Philipsburg police and Mr. Trump said the victim left
a note saying he had staged the earlier stabbing incident.
Police had been investigating the New Year's Eve stabbing incident, and
were seeking an assailant described by Mr. Coudriet. He had been hospitalized
for stab wounds but was released from the Philipsburg State General Hosp. Jan.

Born in Frenchville Feb. 1, 1900, Mr. Coudriet was the son of Alphonse and
Louisa (Rougeux) Coudriet.
He was married to the former Lena Jamison who died in 1965.
He is survived by two sons, David Coudriet, Wallaceton, and Richard F. Coudriet,
Philipsburg, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Hoover (Alice) Rydberg, Clearfield. He is
also survived by two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home, Grassflat, Tuesday at
1 PM, with the Rev. Carroll M. Swenson officiating. Interment will be in Crown
Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

LECONTES MILLS - Ellis John Coudriet, 66, died unexpectedly in his Lecontes
Mills home last night at 10:30 o'clock. He was a former resident of Clearfield.
Mr. Coudriet was born at Frenchville Jan 1, 1894, a son of Prosper and Mary
(Leigey) Coudriet, both of whom are deceased. He lived at Clearfield while he
was employed by the Paterson Brick Company for a period of 20 years. He moved
to LeContes Mills in 1935 and engaged in the trucking and lumbering business
until his retirement in January of last year. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Lisle Coudriet and four children; Raymond E. Coudriet, Clearfield; Mrs. Henry
(VERNA) Hugney, Frenchville; Bruce S. Coudriet, LeContes Mills; and Irvin W.
Coudriet, Clearfield. He also leaves seven grandchildren and four brothers and
sisters; Mrs. Amey (Amy) Hugney, Frenchville; Mrs. Harvey Koozer, Oympia, OR;
Sylverius Coudriet, LeContes Mills; and Wilford Coudriet, Corning NY. A son,
Harold, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be from the Leavy Funeral
Home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Dr. E. Roy Hauser officiating.
Interment will be made in Goshen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home
after 7:30 p.m. today, Sunday afternoon and evening and until time of services
Monday.

McALISTERVILLE -- John D. "Jack" Coudriet Sr., 57, of McAlisterville RR 2 died
Tuesday as the result of a Perry County traffic accident.
He was an employee of Jay Fulkroad and Son Inc.; a former employee of
Empire Kosher Poultry Inc., Mifflintown, and L.S. Lee Inc., York; and a United
Methodist.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah B. Yorks Coudriet; four sons, Frank D., John
D. Jr., Todd A. and Michael S., all of McAlisterville; four stepbrothers, Elmer
Bollman of Gallitzin, Richard Bollman of Portage, William Bollman of York and
George Bollman of Claysburgh; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Sheaffer Funeral Home. Burial
will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Maurice Peter Coudriet, 309 Mill Road, Clearfield, died at his home at 7:45 am
yesterday. He was 73 years old. Born at Frenchville Feb 23, 1888, he was a son
of the late Louis and Amelia (Frelin) Coudriet. Mr. Coudriet was a member of
St. Francis Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna (Hite)
Coudriet; the following children - Mrs. John McKimm jr, James, Kenneth, Mrs.
Blaine Fletcher, Mrs. Luther Welker, Carl and Henry all of Clearfield; a sister,
Mrs. Paul Long of Clearfield; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A
Son, Richard was killed in action in Europe during World War II. Services will
be held from St. Francis Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev.
Father Martin N. Glynn officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at
Frenchville. Friends may call at the Leavy Funeral home at Clearfield after 7
o'clock tonight, Tuesday afternoon and evening and until the hour of services
Wednesday.

TALLMADGE -- Robert L. Gibson, 93, died February 26, 1998.
Mr. Gibson retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. with 41 years
service. He was born in Paducah, Ky., and lived over 50 years in Tallmadge. He
was a member of the Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene, the Tallmadge Lions Club,
the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and served as a former Constable for the
City of Tallmadge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Mae. He is survived by
stepdaughter, Edna Sledd of Kentucky; daughters, Barbara Ann Eustice of Texas,
Mary Ann Coudriet of Dublin, Ohio; son, James R. Gibson of Fla.; two step
grandchildren; seven grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.
Services 11 a.m. Monday from the Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene with
Pasteur Terry Schmelzenbach officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Garden.

Nettie Hugney, 106, dies at Clearfield
Mrs. Nettie M. Hugney, 106, formerly of Clearfield and Frenchville and most
recently a guest at the Mountain Laurel Nursing Center, Clearfield, died at the
center on Sunday, Sept. 18, 1994.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1888, in Frenchville, a daughter of the late
Prosper and Mary Liegey Coudriet.
Mrs. Hugney was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning.
She was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Frenchville.
She is survived by her children: Lavena Hughney and Annabelle Mraz, both
of Clearfield, and A. Sylverius Hugney, Frenchville; by a niece whom she raised,
Lena Gormont of Frenchville; and by 32 grandchildren, numerous great and great-
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aime
Hugney; her children: Cornelius and Ferd Hugney, Helena Magnuson and Mary Jane
Mizwa; and these brothers and sisters: Emory, Ellis, Sylverius and Wilfred
Coudriet, Emma Koozer, Lena Kovalick and Elva and Edith Coudriet.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home Inc.,
Clearfield, tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday until 10 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the St.
Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville, with Fr. John P. Buzga as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The rosary will be recited tomorrow afternoon at the funeral home.

ALBERT J. LOGAN PASSES AWAY
Albert J. Logan, one of Clearfield's good citizens, died at his home at no. 212
Locust St. last evening at 3:30 o'clock of paralysis of the heart. He had been
ailing for several days previous but was about attending to his affairs of
business. Albert J. Logan was born on the old Logan farm in Lawrence Township
Oct. 4 1845, and therefore aged 71 years, 1 month and 2 days of age at the time
of his demise. He is survived by his sorrowing widow and thirteen children, all
living, the father's death being the first in the family. The children surviving
are as follows, namely: Ward Logan, Robert Logan, Hartswick Logan, Mrs. Robert
Leap, Mrs. Burton Undercoffer, Mrs. Weaver Conklin, all of Clearfield and Mrs.

Mrs. Mary Ursula Manahan, whose funeral was held Sunday from the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Ray Litz, on Dorsey street, was aged 67 years 2 months and 19
days. The following children survive. Two sons, Joseph, of Ohio, and Reuben, of
Clearfield, and 5 daughters, Mrs. George Pelton, of Altoona; Mrs. Victor
COUDRIET of Sandy Ridge; Mrs. Daniel Litten, Mrs. Ray Litz and Mrs. Lillian
Graffius, all of Clearfield. Her sisters are Mrs. Gardner and Mrs. Richardson.

Frenchville, a son of the late John J. Picard and Amelia Gormont Picard making
his age 91 years, 10 months and 27 days at the time of death.
In August 1880 he married Jane V. Coudriet, daughter of the late Leon M.
Coudriet and Jean Pierre Lamott Coudriet. Eight children were born to this
union, seven of whom are living: Mrs. Edna R. Shadeck and Albert L. Picard of
Karthaus; Mrs. Ida J. Rougeux and Charles H. Picard of Clearfield; Matthew M.
Picard and Misses Elizabeth and Mary Picard of Erie. His wife and one daughter,
Mrs. Annie Ward preceded him in death. Fifteen grandchildren, 4 grandsons, and
one granddaughter of whom are in the armed forces, 13 great-grandchildren and
one sister, Mrs. Mary Miller of Niagara Falls, also survive.

William M. Soult of Longmont died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at home. He was 60.
He was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Lewistown, Pa., to George W. Soult and Dorothy
Coudriet Soult. He married Laura Butcher on Dec. 27, 1959, in Harrisburg, Pa.
Mr. Soult taught math and physics in Harrisburg from 1960 to 1967; he
joined IBM in 1967 at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., transferring to the Longmont/Boulder
plant in 1968, where he was a programmer, instructor and business planner until
1991. On March 29, 1991, his department spun off from IBM to become Lexmark
International Inc., where he continued as a business planner until his death.
He was a 1956 graduate of Newport High School in Newport, Pa., a 1960
graduate of Shippensburg State College and received his master's degree in
business from Colorado State University.
He served 16 years on the board of directors for St. Vrain Valley School
and was on the Northern Colorado Board of Cooperative Education Services, the
Colorado Association of School Boards, Colorado High School Activities
Association and the National School Boards Association.
He was a fan of the Broncos, Rockies and Avalanche teams, and he attended
many high school and college sporting events. For 27 years, he was a registered
high school football official, officiating many games including nine playoff
games and one state championship. He enjoyed attending concerts of the Longmont
Symphony and the theater.
Survivors include his wife of Longmont; a son, Dr. Timothy Soult of
Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter, Pamela Soult of Dallas; a sister, Carol
Burkhardt of New Bern, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Soult on Dec. 1, 1972;
and a brother, Ned Soult.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central
Presbyterian Church, 402 Kimbark St., Longmont with the Revs. Marilyn Yoder
Boeke and Glenn Perica, both of Central Presbyterian Church officiating.
Cremation has occurred.

Funeral services for Warren Russel Starkey, 74, of White Oak Circle,
Crossville, who passed away May 24, 1997, were held May 27 at Liberty Baptist
Church, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
He was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Woodsfield, Ohio, the son of Russel and
Elizabeth Millbough Starkey. Mr. Starkey was a truck driver for Grimeyers
Gateway Transit, and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He served in the U.S.
Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Starkey of Crossville; daughter, Janet
L. Olson of Crossville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters
Margaret Dalyrmple, Carol Alloway and Wilma Jean Cline, all of Woodsfield, Ohio,
and Alverna Campbell of Acworth, Ga.; and brothers Charles Brown of Olathe,
Kan., Kenneth Brown of Creston, Ohio, and Cecil Brown of Woodsfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russel Starkey; mother, Elizabeth
Brown; step-father, Clyde Brown; sister, Bernice Brown; and brothers Chester and
Roy Brown.
Pallbearers were Phillip Coudriet, Phill Coudriet, Mark Coudriet, Jan Olson
III, Tracy Graham and John K. Hines Jr.
The Rev. Billy Smith officiated.
Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Career-long steelworker was USW Local 1016 president
Funeral will be Saturday for Cecil Elmer "Bud" Williams, 2110 Downing Lane,
Hermitage. He died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (8-1-00) in the intensive care unit of
UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness. He was 58.
Mr. Williams was born April 9, 1942, in McDonald, Ohio, to Elmer and Anna
Belle Buck Williams.
He attended East High School, Youngstown, and Pennsylvania State
University, State College.
For the past two years Mr. Williams was an engineer operator at Duferco
Farrell Corp.. He previously worked for more than 30 years at Caparo Steel,
Farrell, and Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant.
He was president for about 15 years of what is now Local 1016 of United
Steelworkers until his health failed earlier this year.
Mr. Williams was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 327; Fraternal
Order of Police Rose of Sharon Lodge; and Sons of Italy Shenango Valley Lodge
875, all Sharon; American Legion Post 160, Farrell; and Veterans of Foreign Wars
Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage.
He was president of the Sharon Steel Open Hearth Bowling League at
Sharpsville Bowling Center; and golfed with the Tuesday Night League at VFW Golf
Course, Hermitage.
Mr. Williams was also a member and past officer of Shenango Valley Bowling
Association.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Viola Runyan, whom he married May 4,
1958; and a daughter, Patricia J., both at home; a son, Master Sgt. Donald W.
Williams, Spangdahlen Air Force Base, Germany; a stepmother, Eleanor,
Punxsutawney, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Delores Hartman, wife of the Rev. Jack
Hartman, Wellsboro, Pa.; and Mrs. Daniel (Ida Mae) Zurenda, Punxsutawney; a
brother, William E., Sharon; five half-brothers, Brue, Punxsutawney; James
Graffuis, Hamburg, N.Y.; and Lawrence Graffuis, Syracuse, N.Y.; Paul Buck, New
Castle; and the Rev. Homer "Mickey" Williams, Warren, Ohio; four half-sisters,
Mary Jane Coudriet, Niles, Ohio; Brenda, Punxsutawney; Samantha Graffuis,
Trenton, N.J.; and Mabel Graffuis, Miami, Fla.; and five grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David; and a sister, Ruth
Bunker.
