MOTHER FLOSSIE LEE DAVIS
THIS WAS FOUND IN MY LOCAL NEWSPAPER SO I AM SENDING IT ON.
Davis, Mother Flossie Lee, Mother Flossie Lee Davis was born to
(02/99/12)
the union of the late Charley and Mollie McAfee on December 3, 1904 in
Troupe County, Georgia. She was united in holy matrimony to the late
James Davis in 1928. To this union five children were born. As a youth
she attended Knox Baptist Church, and there she received her formal
education. In 1910, she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in La Grange,
Georgia, under the pastorage of the late Rev. Bennett. After moving to
Michigan in 1968, she became affiliated with St. John Missionary
Baptist Church, and later became a loyal and dedicated member of Mt.
Olive Baptist Church. Mother Davis served faithfully and tirelessly
for many years on the Missionary Society Board and the Mothers Board.
Mother Davis led avery active and productive life. She was dedicated
to her church, her family and especially her grandchildren. Mother
Davis was quietly called from this life on February 10, 1999. She
leaves to cherish in her memory: three children, Henry Grady Davis
(Grace), Clarance Davis, and Richard Cason Davis (Jovita); ten
grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great
grandchildren, all of Ypsilanti; a very special niece, Mrs. Mary
Gillenwater; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She
was preceded in death by her husband, James Davis; her daughter, Helen
Hurst; and her son, Wilbur Davis. Service will be held Monday,
February 15, 1999 12:00 p.m. Family hour 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Olive
Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, MI. Rev. Garther Roberson officiating.
Burial will be at United Memorial Gardens. Visitation Sunday 12:00
p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Lucilles Funeral Home. Arrangements by LUCILLES
FUNERAL HOME.
