McILNEY - BARLEY

A very pretty summer wedding was solemnized on July 23 at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Martin Barley of Roaring Spring, when their daughter Miss Jean Barley,
became the bride of Hillis E. McIlney, son of Mrs. Bertha McIlney of Roaring
Spring. Rev O. E. Feeman, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran church, officiated
using the impressive double-ring ceremony, before the fire place which was
beautifully decorated with green fern, white sweet peas, lilies and candles in
the presence of members of the immediate families. The bride, given in marriage
by her father, made a lovely picture in an aqua street-length dress with gold
leaf hat, matching gold accessories and a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Honore B.
Mauk, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. She chose a street-length
gown of pink bemberg sheer with gold accessories and a nosegay of multi-colored
rosebuds. Roger C. Mauk was best man. A reception at the home of the bride
followed the ceremony. The couple left for a honeymoon in Baltimore. The bride
and bridegroom are both graduates of Roaring Spring High school. The bride is
employed in Shaffer's store and the bridegroom is a senior at Indiana State
Teachers' college and a veteran of World war II.
