The Cherokee Advance    9 Oct 1885 p 2
Died at his residence, Conn's Creek, on Monday, August 31, 1885, George W. 
Holcombe, aged 72 years. 
He was an affectionate husband and a kind father, and leaves a wife and seven 
children.
He had been a member of the Baptist church-most of the time a deacon-for about 
27 years. 
His daily walk and Godly conversation haved proved him a true christian.  He 
rests with Jesus.
